  • Great location

"As stated in other reviews, this place is all about the location. North Beach is an outstanding neighborhood with many good local restaurants and clubs. We ate at several of the nearby restaurants, had coffee and pastries each morning at the coffee houses, tried some gelato, etc, etc. We walked to literally all of the the attractions - the wharf, pier, boat dock to Alcatraz, Chinatown, Lombard St, cable cars, etc. Coit tower is steps (steep steps of course) away. Shopping for groceries was also convenient with Safeway and Trader Joe's a relatively short distance. We did choose to rent a car for several day trips out of the city and paid for the onsite garage space which was very convenient. But if you're just touring the sites in the city, don't bother with the car, you won't need it. There are several local rental car agencies if you decide to rent one at the last minute. I should mention we are a family of four with two teenagers. The space of the apartment was great for us. The owner was responsive to any question and there were no problems with the check-in process. This is an old building as you would expect in the heart of San Francisco. Use Google street view to look at the building and around the neighborhood. The pictures on the VRBO website are very accurate. The kitchen and bathrooms were recently updated and clean which was very important to us. I did not give five stars for the following, easily correctable I should add, reasons: First, the living room rug and chair were filthy. As in disgusting to the point that we threw a blanket over the chair before we would sit on it. Second, the window in the bedroom that is near back porch did not have a lock. There was a burglar stop, but the window still opened about 8 - 10 inches which is enough to unsettle a teenage girl. Quite frankly, for the nightly rate we paid I would not have expected to have to point those things out. Again, we would have given the fifth star if not for the issues above."

  • Perfect Spot in Noe Valley!

"We booked ten days in this apartment in June and Kathy was more than helpful throughout the entirety of our stay. Located in a beautiful landmark building in Noe Valley, the apartment has been renovated and is both spacious and filled with light. For those interested in cooking, the kitchen has new appliances and all the up-to-date equipment required. Numerous restaurants and coffee shops abound in the neighborhood and walking access to the Mission District and Bernal Heights is simple. The MUNI stop (one block) provides easy access to the rest of the city. We will definitely return."

  • Perfect!

"My husband and I stayed in this house for two months – and we loved it! If you love cooking this house is amazing – it has all the cooking equipment you need to cook like a true bistro chef. The kitchen is beautiful and full of light from the many windows and the den with the entrance to a wonderful old garden. The garden has a big avocado tree and old roses. The view from the house on the top of Potrero Hill is unbeatable. The neighborhood is great too - it feels very safe and the house is just one street up from 18th with lots of great restaurants, a wine shop and a good grocery with great local produce and a decent deli selection. The house is a fairly short walk from a huge Wholefoods. The hosts Gwen and Michael are wonderful people, very helpful and generous. We highly recommend this house and are looking forward to returning next time we visit San Francisco."

  • Great place for a San Francisco trip

"We stayed here for our wedding weekend. Apartment was clean and just as described. Great location. Owner provided a lot of great amenities (thanks for the iron and the blow dryer!). Very close to dining, shopping, and entertainment options. Owners were easy to reach and very attentive of property."
