  • Beautiful house in a beautiful area! Very much reccomend!

"Hello! I had my wedding in San Francisco in December and my husband and I rented out this property while staying there over a long weekend for us and a few family members. We only have wonderful things to say about this house. It is beautiful and large and warm and cozy and the perfect place and location to have everyone stay. Mary the owner was out of town, but left us a wonderful cake and bottle of wine to welcome us. She also checked in with us and made sure we had everything we needed. Everything went smoothly and made our wedding weekend and accommodations for our out of town guest easy and hassle free. We loved it and would stay there again. Beautiful house, owners and location!"

  • Wonderful place to use as base camp

"This was a fantastic place and Mary is a pleasure to work with. When there was a problem with something, she was able to tell me what to do quickly. The apartment, itself, is in a great location--quiet, easy walking distance to many places, as well as to the Muni so the trip into downtown was simple. I would stay there again in a minute!"

  • Perfect for Extended Stays

"If you are planning a lengthy stay in San Francisco/California, Nancy's cottage is the perfect base. First of all, it is located in a quiet, real neighborhood close to two shopping/restaurant districts (Chestnut Street and Union Street), has a bus stop one block away on Union Street (Buses 45 and 41 which take you downtown) and several blocks away on Chestnut Street (Bus 30 which takes you down to Fisherman's Wharf, Ghiradelli Square, etc), a local French neighborhood bistro one and a half blocks away for those times you just want to pop out for lunch/dinner, several local launderers/cleaners, and a corner shop one block away for quick grocery pick-ups. Add to this its proximity to the Marina and the Presidio and it's pretty much perfectly located. We did not have a car, but I believe other guests have and purchased temporary permits to park on the streets. Now let's talk about the cottage itself. Without gushing too much, let me just say that it is charming, comfortable, efficient, and spotless. The kitchen has top-notch appliances (stove, fridge, micro, toaster, dishwasher, toaster oven), and comes completely stocked with pots/pans, dishes, cutlery, and utensils, and even some pantry items like coffee, tea, olive oil, vinegar, flour, etc. The living room is comfortable with a TV, fireplace (gas), lovely garden views, and decorated with just enough of Nancy's travel souvenirs and art work that you feel like you are in a real home, but not so much that you feel like you are in someone else's personal space. There is a lovely dining area next to the kitchen that leads out to a small patio, perfect for morning coffee or evening glass of wine. Throughout the house are portable heaters for zone heating. We used them especially in the morning to take the chill off. There is also a front garden between the cottage and Nancy's lovely Victorian home that has a seating area. Upstairs is a generous bedroom with king-size bed (actually two twins pushed together), a huge closet area, and a very nice bathroom, complete with lots of good towels. All windows in the cottage look out on gardens. The cottage is located at the confluence of neighbors' gardens and they're all beautiful and lush! Add to all this Nancy's two adorable dogs (Sadie and Twyla), who greet you coming and going and often come to visit, and Nancy herself, who is most gracious and helpful, and you have a perfect base for a San Francisco/California visit. Highly recommended!!"

  • Fantastic Home in the Presidio

"Thank you for having such a beautiful home. I did not know what to expect, but it was more than my family could have wished for in a house rental. The house was very large and clean, and we are a family of five and we all had our own space. While the house had all the modern amenities, the charm of this Victorian home was present everywhere. The home is on a very pretty dead end street and from the kitchen you can see easily see the Presidio golf course. The area is extremely quiet and peaceful so it made sleeping a bit later in the morning quite easy. The kitchen had every gadget and within walking distance you can shop at two markets. One had very excellent prepared foods. The food is pretty remarkable in San Francisco and I grew up in NYC. We made visits to Golden Gate Park, played golf course twice and went to Planet Granite. I had never been to San Francisco before but the charm of the house would entice me to come back. I do hope the state of California get some well needed rain."
