  • Quiet residential neighborhood, good value!

"This studio met our need for a safe, quiet place in SF with access to public transit at a reasonable price. John, the owner, was easy to work with and responded promptly to messages. The studio is small, as reflected in the pictures, and not conducive to sitting around watching TV for long stretches (though there is a small TV to match the studio) - but we didn't go to the city to do that! The sense of security, location in a quiet residential neighborhood, and good value made up for the small space. The studio was clean, nicely furnished, and well-maintained. We had no problem finding long-term parking on another quiet nearby street, which was necessary because of daytime restrictions on the street the unit is located on. There were several good eateries and a couple of small grocers very close by, making it easy to find what we needed when we didn't want to venture out of the neighborhood. We had a wonderful dinner at a casual place called Pomelo, and great inexpensive Chinese food at Henry's, both within a block or two of the studio. Access to downtown via transit, and the nearby Mission and Castro districts was also convenient."

  • Very accommodating

"While looking for a place to stay in San Francisco in the last week of September, we happened upon this apartment, which seemed to fit our needs well. After booking the apartment, however, the owner, Jay, said he had made a mistake and had overbooked for the weekend. Instead of staying in the one-bedroom apartment, he suggested, we should stay in his upstairs flat, and we promptly agreed to the offer. What a place! If the apartment is anything like what we found on our arrival, we think we would have been very pleased with the accommodations. The place was clean and well-appointed, with a "retro" look, suggesting the 1940s and '50s. But all was in working order. Contrary to a previous review, we found the neighborhood and the place very quiet, with rarely a sound beyond the occasional car or truck passing through the intersection. (Hey, it is in the heart of the bustling and vibrant Mission District, so we did not expect the quiet of a retirement villa.) Throughout the process, we were pleased with Jay's quick, thorough, and courteous responses to our various emailed questions to him. It was clear he wanted to make our stay as comfortable as possible. And he succeeded beyond our wildest dreams. We would not hesitate returning again."

  • Nice apartment

"I stayed here for 2 nights with my husband and 2 children. We only ate breakfast here but my husband did cook eggs and used some of the supplies to make hot chocolate. We weren't informed that it was Gay Pride weekend and that the street would be closed down for a huge block party. We were surprised when we got off the metro that was a block and a half away to find a huge party and some naked men. Even though the property is set back behind the building on the main street the music was blaring. I'm not sure when it finally got quiet but we all had a hard time falling asleep due to the music. We had to sign house rules saying we would be quiet. We did have a car since we were travelling all around CA and were able to find a parking space a couple blocks away on Noe St. We were there over the weekend so it was fine. We used public transportation to get around the city and it was a bit confusing. It would have been nice to have some brochures of some activities. It would have been especially helpful to have a MUNI, public transportation, maps. We went to the wharf, Blue and Gold boat tour called the Rock, walked on the Golden Gate Bridge and went along the coast to get to the airport from Lands End where we had great views of the GG bridge. I wish we would have had more time to go to the beach. The place was at a good location but not for the weekend we came."
