Privacy and luxury a bike ride away from Stanford.
"This house was perfect for my husband's sabbatical at Stanford with our infant son. We enjoyed the privacy and quiet location. My husband biked to campus everyday so we only needed one vehicle. (Bike was provided!) We walked to the park everyday to play on the playground and see the donkeys. On Saturday mornings, we loved to walk to the farmer's market. We were completely at home in this house. If we need another short term stay in Palo Alto, we will absolutely stay here!"

"We live in the Bay Area and wanted to get away for the weekend but not be too far away. The Hummingbird House fit our needs. The house is charming and entertaining for everyone in our family. The different floors provide a sense of privacy. Take advantage of the fire pit and enjoy the night time sounds in the hot tub - so much fun! In the office there is a variety of pamphlets for local restaurants & activities, which was great since we love to explore. It was a busy weekend at the river so we went to the beach to see the sea lions. Several months have passed by but we are still affectionately talking about the Hummingbird House. If you are fortunate enough to stay there, don't be surprised if you find a stray LEGO piece under a rug! It was probably left by us!"

"We were visiting Santa Rosa for a family wedding and chose this home because it was close to where the bride and groom lived. We were 3 couples, one with a toddler, another couple solo and another couple with 2 college-age girls. The main space of the house was big enough that everyone was happy and we didn't get in each other's way. The master bedroom was spacious and had a small outdoor balcony. One thing to consider is that the bathroom in the master bedroom does not have a door and so if you are 4 people (using the trundle bed) there may be a problem with who is in the room when someone else is showering ... We worked it out so it wasn't a real problem. The other two bedrooms were somewhat small, especially with a crib in one, but like I said, it all worked out. The house was very comfortable and it had every amenity described in the listing. We contacted the owners about the whereabouts of the crib and they were very helpful in pointing us in the right direction. We didn't get to use the pool because it wasn't warm enough, but I should think in the warmer months it would get a lot of use! It was a very nice place to stay and we would recommend it to others!"

"First, if you are truly interested in renting this property, follow the directions and CALL Patty...do not email! We rented this gorgeous estate while we were in the Walnut Creek area for my son's wedding. Our family (and the groomsmen) stayed here for the better part of a week while we toured San Francisco and participated in wedding activities. We also hosted the rehearsal dinner in the garden. As other reviewers have mentioned, this estate is a destination unto itself! Words can't describe the lovely, eclectic decor and the fascinating, whimsical gardens. Patty was helpful in every way. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us!"
