"Chris is the best owner I've had to deal with ever renting homes (I've rented about 10 times). Very responsive by text - usually within 2-3 minutes. He gave us information and places to see. He printed off some tickets for us while we were there and dropped them off at our doorstep. Heck, he even mailed doll clothes we left behind!
We rented July 11-22. 9 people. 4 adults, one senior, kids 8, 10, 13 and 15. Everyone found something they loved about the house. Pool, hot tub and BBQ area 10/10. Heck, 11/10. Pool table, TVs, outside patios, great views, lots of places to sit and tables to eat at inside and out. Another nice surprise is while temperature in SF was 65 F, the same day it would be 80F+ in Lafayette. And the house is just enough inland to avoid the marine layer so sunny in Lafayette when a bit overcast or cloudy in SF. Great for hanging out by the pool on off days, or when returning from site-seeing.
SF a very big area and traffic very busy. Car a must if staying here, in my opinion, but I suppose possible to visit most things hopping on BART. We still took BART into city a couple times, even though we had cars. Lafayette BART station parking lot fills up pretty early, but you can reserve parking online at the Pleasant Hill Station which was handy.
Favourite things to do: Attended SF Giants game - beautiful stadium, took BART downtown, buy on Stubhub early. Napa Valley tour - Palmaz Winery our favourite tour. Book ahead. Alcatraz of course - book early online. Drove down to Monterey Aquarium, and then 17 Mile Drive toward Pebble Beach. Long drive but worth it. Muir Woods is beautiful and well worth a visit. But we arrived around 11am and there was NO parking - miles of cars parked on road. We went back around 4pm and we parked right beside the entrance. So go very early, or go late afternoon. Golden Gate Park Segway Tour - you look nerdy but we had a blast touring this beautiful park. Book ahead. While a bit pricey, the Exploratorium is a very fun interactive science museum - kids (and adults) loved it. Hidden gem for us was the Autodesk Gallery - free museum downtown with amazing inventions and 3D printing displays. Favourite restaurant was Roam Burger in Lafayette 5 minutes from the house. Best burger I have ever had.
I have absolutely no hesitation recommending this beautiful, well kept, FUN property and dealing with Chris.
