  • a most stunning place

"This is the cleanest, best equipped and most tastefully furnished place we have ever rented. In August 2014 my husband and I spent 17 days in this eceptionally beautiful house. Every morning at breakfast we were newly enchanted by the sight and the sound of the waves as we watched the Pacific "at work" from the dining room table in the living room. Though we were only two, the house is well suited for 6 people. It is spacious with its 3 bedrooms plus a den, and there are several comforable chairs for long-time sitting. The listing description regarding its location was very accurate. A short trail leading to the main beach is just one minute away from the house. The location of this house is ideal for all kinds of excursions whether it is the exploration of the natural beauty of Northern California you are seekinng or whether you want to experience the Mediterrrainian beauty of Somona and Napa Valley vinyards with their winetastings and amazing restaurants. Magnificent places like Point Reyes, Muir Woods and the Coastal Trail at Bodega are all within easy driving range. And then, of course, there are the long walks along Dillon Beach, watching Pelicans feed and other water birds. The owner was in close contact with us and most helpful in answering our questions. We would not only highly recommend this place to our family and friends, but would love for ourselves to come back there one day. The house and its location so close to the beach is well suited to families with young children, but for them, the path to the water would have to be improved in its safety from erosion. We did miss not having access to an outdoor grill, and ATT cell service was non existent, but altogether, this house is the most relaxing place imaginable."

  • Good - not great this time

"Second time for staying at the very cute Elephant Studio. Last year at this time was our first stay and what a perfect time we had. . . the place is tiny and delicious. Best part - the awesome secluded and protected sunny deck. The studio itself is small - that's OK - one should expect that. We didn't mind the coziness at all. But shouldn't an equipped kitchen at least have at least a couple of drinking glass or wine glasses? Two plastic champagne flutes doesn't really cut it. . . drinking wine from a coffee mug is OK but not great. . . and maybe a toaster oven or plain ol' toaster? And the relentless deep barking of a sweet looking HUGE dog next door detracted from the oh-so-perfectness of the deck. Either the next door owners were not home or hard of hearing because the dogs (2?)- either inside or on the deck - barked a lot! (but not at night, thankfully). The Murphy bed is OK but squeaky due to the odd piece of plywood at the head of the bed - we found that a towel placed between the wall and the piece of wood helped a lot. We most likely will go back again because we love the deck, the view, the setting - practically on TOP of the water and did I mention that deck? so private and protected - even on a very windy day we enjoyed sitting out there grilling some oysters because we were warm and cozy. (if only the dogs would be quiet. . . )"

  • A real gem!

"Spent several days at "Barracca on the Bay" with four friends for a girls getaway. Truly transformative and relaxing. The house is a one of a kind nautical gem that is beautiful and yet very comfortable. It has a really good vibe and you can tell it has been host to many good times for lots of people. Tons of windows looking out at one of the more scenic views in all of California. Watched seals, pelicans, egrets, hawks and all kinds of other wildlife from the living room and front deck. Beds are cozy and the hot tub was very private and relaxing. You feel like you are in a private wonderland and yet you are within minutes of excellent restaurants and small quintessential Nor Cal towns that feel rustic and full of history and friendly folks. Plenty of room to do your own thing and get some solitude on the property as well. Highly recommended! You will want to come back."
