"This condo was perfect for my husband and myself. First time to visit San Fran and we couldn't have been more pleased with it. It was everything - and more- than we expected. The fire pit on the patio is especially nice for the cool mornings with our coffee and the cool evenings to enjoy a glass of wine. Just north a few blocks you can walk to Marina Blvd and get great pics of the sunset. It's not only within walking distance to lots of shops and restaurants, but is close to buses that go everywhere within the city. Our first night we took the sunset cruise on the Red/White line at Pier 43, where we had dinner aboard and took great pictures. One day we took the HOHO tour (Hop on Hop off) and rode atop a double-decker bus. That was a blast, we got to see all the different areas of SF and our tour guide was very funny and informative. We got off at Union St, walked around a bit and hopped on another one to finish the tour by Fisherman's Wharf. One day we did the Alcatraz tour (book at least 2 weeks in advance), the audio tour was very enlightening - be prepared to do a lot of walking. Try to eat at Scoma if you can get a reservation, it's close to Pier 43. Pier 39 has tons of shops and eateries and we watched the sea lions sunning and playing. They were hilarious. We went across the GG Bridge to Sausalito - what a picturesque little town with great shops and restaurants - there's a Scoma there too. All in all, we loved the condo and loved San Fran and will be going back same time next year, the weather couldn't have been better and we hated to leave. Kathy and Rick were always on hand to answer any questions we had before we even arrived. They are great hosts."

  • Fabulous location and apartment!

"This apartment truly is a gem in the heart of North Beach! It is a beautifully renovated space with everything you could possibly need, stunning and comfortable. North Beach is a great central location and we used public transit quite easily. We did rent a car for 2 days and headed off to Big Sur, Carmel, San Simeon and Monterey. We highly recommend stopping at Nepenthe in Big Sur if you plan to drive Highway 1 along the coast. Jim is a marvelous historian, very interesting to talk to and he had good recommendations for nearby restaurants. The roof top terrace was wonderful to return home to, to relax, have a great glass of wine and to enjoy the view. It really is spectacular! It's a lovely, comfortable apartment that looks out over a vibrant, busy street. The noise didn't bother us, it was enjoyable watching the activity. We would highly recommend this apartment and hope to maybe return one day."

  • Los Gatos cottage

"The pictures of the cottage are pretty accurate and, although small, a good fit for a small family. I wished that I paid closer attention to the earlier reviews about the noise-level. I am normally a medium-to-heavy sleeper and yet the noise kept me up (yes, even the early hours of the morning, there is traffic coming and going on 17, especially Saturday nights). The only other two minor issues was that (1) the coffee pot was marked as leaker and we were unable to find the filter and (2) the local TV (to view the news) was not recieving a signal. We contacted John and he corrected the coffee pot situation right away. We were unable to connect on a good time to get the TV looked at, but we were able to view Netflix and some HULU. The cottage is well stocked with toilet paper, towels and cleaning supplies such as dish detergents and hand soap. We found out from John that he also stocked the other rental units with a selection of earplugs, but not in the smaller one that we were at. He plans to remedy this shortly. All the earlier reviews about contacting John are spot on, he will do his best to fix any issues that arise. It is also within a short walking distance in downtown. Although there is no garage, there is parking lot designated for the tenants, so available close by parking is not an issue. I should add that the cottage is clean, which is important consideration for me. I bundled up our toddler in the down comforter at night and you can smell the "clean laundry" scent! We would stay again, especially after hearing from John that he stocks earplugs for folks who may have forgotten to bring theirs along."
