  • Beautiful and relaxing...

"Our stay could not have been better! Where to start? From the moment we pulled in the driveway, my daughters, ages 12 and 15, were completely enchanted with this lovely home. They were especially enamored with the backyard creek, the upstairs bedroom and sitting area, and the downstairs spa tub. And my husband and I were delighted to see that the kitchen was very well-stocked. Cheese grater and garlic press? Potato peeler and wine opener? Pot holders and dishtowels? It was all there, and more! Our stay was scheduled over the Thanksgiving weekend, and that was the weekend that California received the rain we've all been praying for, so we spent a lot of time indoors. No worries, though -- the home had many DVDs and board games to entertain us. We also popped into nearby Redding to watch a movie, and the next day, my younger daughter and I had a fabulous adventure in the rain when we took our dog for a walk in the nearby woods. We had no fear about getting soaked through as our home came equipped with washer, dryer, and laundry detergent! Our "bonus" experience came when we visited Lassen National Park, and it started snowing on us! A word to the wise: Bring snow chains JUST IN CASE!"

  • Storybook Cottage

"This was a wonderful place to stay - so comfortable, well-equipped, and beautiful, inside and out. We loved sitting on the deck and enjoying the soothing sound of the stream nearby. The owners were easy to deal with, and we felt very welcome."

  • SO AMAZING I DON'T WANT TO SHARE MY 5 STAR REVIEW!

"This gem of a cabin is so lovely and the owners so hospitable that a part of me wants to be selfish and keep it a secret, but that wouldn't be fair to the world! ;) NOTE: This review is actually being written by two people, someone who went to the cabin and had the most relaxing weekend ever and someone who stayed home with their sick baby and received constant text messages and photos raving about the cabin. Person 1: I booked this incredible cabin for our family new years trip, but sadly the day before our scheduled departure my son was diagnosed with his first ear infection and my husband became ill. We disappointingly stayed home while our parents went to the cabin alone. We were genuinely afraid they would be miserable without us, how wrong we were! They texted us the moment they got there sending photos of hot homemade bread that awaited them upon arrival, with jam and softened butter. The table settings were out, beds were made, a sign welcoming them was placed outside. They said it was the most beautiful cabin they had ever rented and proceeded to call and text and basically gloat about what luxurious, relaxing, heavenly time they were having without us. Needless to say we are eager to book the cabin again and enjoy this incredible place for ourselves! Person 2: My husband and I enjoyed such a lovely stay together, the owners were so welcoming and so incredibly attentive. We appreciate the attention to detail, the hot bread upon arrival was really a treat, and you just cannot beat the beauty and elegance of this cabin. The architecture, the furniture, the glassware, everything was top notch all the way. We enjoyed so many lovely dinners in the beautiful kitchen, I sat upstairs and read in the comfy alcove, we actually didn't really leave the place much over the 3 days because it was so pleasant inside. We are eager to come back during the summer because I suspect there is more to see and do at that time of year, but there is no question this spot will be a family favorite for years to come. Can't wait to bring our grandkids in the summer! A+++ Could not recommend this cabin any more highly!"

  • Immaculately clean; Exceptional host/hostess

"This property is so immaculately clean that the entire inside looks new. The kitchen was fully stocked and even included a tea maker. There was a bottle of wine, crackers and cheeses waiting for us. We were late arriving and hadn't stopped to pick up food for dinner, so I called and asked Felicia where we could stop to get either a prepared meal or food to prepare our own. She said nothing was open late within 30 miles, but she generously offered us burgers and hot dogs from her own freezer!! When we arrived, not only were the meats there, but she had supplied condiments even including tomato, onions and pickles! THEN, as if that weren't above and beyond, she had left side dishes for us as well! The deck is huge and includes 2 picnic tables, so we grilled our dinner and sat outside just enjoying the quiet and beauty. Al and Felicia had also left us a small turkey and cheese tray, which we packed and took with us for a picnic lunch at Lassen Volcanic Park (only about 10 minutes away). Bring your food with you because there are no grocery stores here (only small camp-type stores). It is a beautiful area, better because there is little commercialism. Also nearby, about 2 miles, are lava tubes that can be independently explored by flashlight like a cave. Al and Felicia recommended JJ Café, only about a mile away, for breakfast. Breakfast was delicious--homemade fried potatoes, bakery or homemade bread for toast. There is no internet, but our hosts left a supply of DVDs for evening entertainment. The showers were great--each of us showered every morning one right after the other and did not run out of hot water. The beds are very firm. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. My adult son and daughter spoke of Felicia as "like having a grandmother who pampers us.""
