  • Immaculately clean; Exceptional host/hostess

"This property is so immaculately clean that the entire inside looks new. The kitchen was fully stocked and even included a tea maker. There was a bottle of wine, crackers and cheeses waiting for us. We were late arriving and hadn't stopped to pick up food for dinner, so I called and asked Felicia where we could stop to get either a prepared meal or food to prepare our own. She said nothing was open late within 30 miles, but she generously offered us burgers and hot dogs from her own freezer!! When we arrived, not only were the meats there, but she had supplied condiments even including tomato, onions and pickles! THEN, as if that weren't above and beyond, she had left side dishes for us as well! The deck is huge and includes 2 picnic tables, so we grilled our dinner and sat outside just enjoying the quiet and beauty. Al and Felicia had also left us a small turkey and cheese tray, which we packed and took with us for a picnic lunch at Lassen Volcanic Park (only about 10 minutes away). Bring your food with you because there are no grocery stores here (only small camp-type stores). It is a beautiful area, better because there is little commercialism. Also nearby, about 2 miles, are lava tubes that can be independently explored by flashlight like a cave. Al and Felicia recommended JJ Café, only about a mile away, for breakfast. Breakfast was delicious--homemade fried potatoes, bakery or homemade bread for toast. There is no internet, but our hosts left a supply of DVDs for evening entertainment. The showers were great--each of us showered every morning one right after the other and did not run out of hot water. The beds are very firm. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. My adult son and daughter spoke of Felicia as "like having a grandmother who pampers us.""

  • amazing Jackalope Acres!!!

"Three families, 4 days, lots of kiddos, incredible food on the menu, a mini road trip all to arrive at the amazing Jackalope Acres!!! What could have been a recipe for a wild adventure ended up being an epic feasting, playing, laughing, hiking, hot tubbing and lifetime memory making long weekend. It was all because of the incredible house. Jackalope Acres is meticulously stocked with literally EVERYTHING and ANYTHING we needed or wanted and then some. Above and beyond our expectations. Each bedroom had wonderful linens and cozy beds aplenty. Every part of the home and property is well thought out and beautifully created. Even though we were there in January and there was not a flake of snow to be found, we were thoroughly entertained at every minute. The property allowed for the children to run free. We had wonderful bonfires in the evenings. The kitchen allowed us to create beautiful masterpieces of our meals. We all got to sit around the cozy inside fire, swapping story and laughing in total enjoyment of each other! We will for sure be coming back and thought what a special place this would be to create an annual tradition together. This could be the start of a beautiful relationship!"

  • Great Launchpad for Lassen

"Beautiful location nestled in the woods that is right off the Hwy that leads into Lassen National Park- yet so quiet! The creek running along the back of the property is more like a small river and just beautiful. Our kids loved it. It is still cool in this area in May and was too cold to actually get in the water but we are looking forward to coming back in the summer to do some wading. You would definitely want to keep an eye on younger children. The house was fully stocked with pantry essentials like salt, sugar, and spices as well as ll the utensils we needed to cook up the groceries we bought in Red Bluff on the way up. There was plenty of firewood ready for the stove that kept us nice and toasty as we watched movies from Michael's selection in the living room. It was a blessing to be able to bring our dog along to share the vacation with us and she gave it all four paws up. Michael was very responsive and helpful."
