  • Beautiful home!

"I stayed here for a weekend with a group of friends from school, and we had a great time. The home is really lovely, fully outfitted with everything you could need, and overlooks a beautiful creek. Michael was extremely welcoming and accommodating. And Lassen NP is just a short drive away. I would highly recommend this place!"

  • Nice spot and a nice house

"As other's have noted, this is a nice house very convenient to Lassen Volcanic National Park. We stayed there four days and went to the park easily each day. It's a good house for kids since it's all on one floor, has games to play and is pretty well child proofed already.d There is cable TV and wifi to entertain you in the evenings. There is also a firepit outside and a working wood stove inside. We didn't use the deck, but there is a nice one in front with an eating area and a hammock. The front yard has a small grassy area and plenty of parking. Across the street is a small pond and a big field for playing ball games on. The road is very quiet and while there are houses next door on each side, we didn't see or hear anyone when we there. There is a small grocery store about 10 miles away in Shingletown that has a surprising selection. If you are coming from the bay area, there is a big Safeway in Anderson close to where you get off I5. The kitchen is pretty well stocked for the kinds of meals you are likely cooking on vacation. Having laundry is convenient too. The master bedroom is on the other side of the house from the other two, which is good if you want the privacy, but maybe an issue if you have small kids and want to be right next to their rooms. We liked it!"

  • amazing Jackalope Acres!!!

"Three families, 4 days, lots of kiddos, incredible food on the menu, a mini road trip all to arrive at the amazing Jackalope Acres!!! What could have been a recipe for a wild adventure ended up being an epic feasting, playing, laughing, hiking, hot tubbing and lifetime memory making long weekend. It was all because of the incredible house. Jackalope Acres is meticulously stocked with literally EVERYTHING and ANYTHING we needed or wanted and then some. Above and beyond our expectations. Each bedroom had wonderful linens and cozy beds aplenty. Every part of the home and property is well thought out and beautifully created. Even though we were there in January and there was not a flake of snow to be found, we were thoroughly entertained at every minute. The property allowed for the children to run free. We had wonderful bonfires in the evenings. The kitchen allowed us to create beautiful masterpieces of our meals. We all got to sit around the cozy inside fire, swapping story and laughing in total enjoyment of each other! We will for sure be coming back and thought what a special place this would be to create an annual tradition together. This could be the start of a beautiful relationship!"

  • Wonderful holiday get-away

"We found the Battle Creek Retreat to be the perfect location for our two families to spend the New Year's holiday. There was plenty of room for numerous activities to take place; i.e. movies, puzzles, cards, hide and seek, and playing by the creek. The house was warm upon arrival, and was cozy for the entire stay. We appreciated having easy access to wood and kindling for the fire, and the Monitor heater worked great. Access to snow was only 15 minutes away at Lassen Park. We had plenty of bedding and towels for 8 people; we also appreciated the supply of paper products such as paper towels, Kleenex, napkins, and toilet paper. The Keurig coffee/hot cocoa machine was a big hit with the kids. The fenced-in patio area was a nice surprise and allowed the dog to explore outside. The kitchen had a good supply of cooking utensils, dishes, silverware, and mugs. Guests should bring condiments, spices, and baking supplies. Overall, we couldn't ask for anything more; we all loved it and had a relaxing stay. We would have loved to stay longer. We highly recommend this retreat, and may try staying here this summer."
