Quintesential Mountain Cabin for Two
"Only a few minutes from downtown Healdsburg, we find this one-bedroom, one-bath, 1920's mountain cabin that is perched about 100 feet above the Russian River. As we open the wooden gate at the entrance to this very private property, we are greeted by a beautiful oak tree with outstretched arms. To the right there is a primitive outdoor stove, reminiscent of a bygone time, adjacent to a modern 4-person hot tub. A gravel path leads us past a large stainless steel grill to the left and on to the cabin. A wonderfully creaky screen door welcomes us into the cabin and we find a cozy living room with knotty pine walls and an exposed beam ceiling. A comfy couch and chairs, with luxuriously soft throw blankets, surround a stone fireplace with a gas log insert. Wi-Fi is provided as are Pandora and Netflix on the 30" flat panel television above the mantle. The fire is lit and the cabin is warm and inviting. On the back wall there are the shelves with books, magazines and information on the surrounding area. A floor to ceiling 9-panal window on the left wall provides views to the lush greenery outside. Through the glass French doors on the back wall, we find a screened in porch with two Adirondack chairs and a dining table and chairs that look out to a sloping back yard, an outdoor fire pit, the Russian River, hundreds and hundreds of acres of the Seghesio vineyards and nothing else but rolling hills and the mountains beyond. After taking in the magnificent views, we proceed into the quaint but well appointed kitchen and find a sink, oven/stove, refrigerator, coffee maker and corkscrew. Of course, we only really need the corkscrew as we have restaurants already selected for every meal. A hallway leads us back to a bathroom with slate shower and the bedroom with a raised Queen size bed that looks so comfortable. Last but not least, the proprietor is first class, very accommodating and available if you need her. We highly recommend this beautiful property. Enjoy!!"

"My wife and I have now spent 4 of our Sonoma vacations in Bob's wonderful farmhouse. Truly gets better each time we come..this latest visit we enjoyed it with long time friends and had a great and relaxing, fun time.
From bocci ball, the refreshing pool and the great outdoor kitchen...right down to late night fires around the fire pit - an awesome vacation as always.
Location is great, lots of things to do, good food, great wine, incredible scenery. This past visit we were able to witness the grape harvest on the property (I believe Kunde Vineyards plants the side acreage) and that was pretty cool.
We look forward to enjoying this gem of a property for many years to come."

"We had a girlfriends week and couldn't have asked for a nicer property. Watching the sunrise in the morning was breathtaking. Several of us took walks from the house down into the community almost every day. Perfect location for visiting the wineries - we even did a hot balloon ride from Santa Rosa airport. Highly recommend this property."

"Four women friends spent 4 days/3 nights at this terrific house with great access to the beach and golf course in Bodega Bay. We chose it for the 4 bd/4 bath accommodations, its wonderful location, spectacular views, and amenities as described on the VRBO website. We received very prompt and courteous responses from the owner and comprehensive information about the rental for which we were very grateful. Almost everything was as described.
But not to take anything away from our very favorable impressions overall, our ratings for this house would be the very highest if these improvements were made:
* Windows need to be better cleaned inside and out. Windows in some bedrooms were stuck and could not be opened to receive the sea breezes, and had no screens to ward off bugs.
*Facial tissues in the bathrooms would have been nice.
*Not all TVs worked, e.g. master bedroom. And some bedroom TVs were only set up for games and DVDs, not broadcast viewing, which was disappointing. This was not clearly stated on the website.
*Scratchy old flannel sheets on some beds were not comfortable or pleasing.
*Many dish mugs had coffee/tea stains that need to be scrubbed well or replaced.
*More clothes hangers in the closets would have helped.
*There is a leak in the shower head in the master bedroom downstairs.
*Some light bulbs were out. We could not find any replacements.
*The electric tea kettle has a lot of lime scale so we did not use.
*The hum of the hot tub is very distracting in one of the lower bedrooms.
*Explicit instructions needed for combination lock; that you have to re-input the combination in order to put the key back in the box as you leave.
All in all, Pelican Perch is pretty spectacular and we would stay here again if the opportunity arose."
