  • Lucy plus two

"My husband and I plus our dog Lucy spent a wonderful 3-1/2 days at this beautiful cottage by the sea. The care given to this house is seen in many of the details -- the pictures shown are just what you will find and more. We felt right at home when we open the front door. The view of Salmon Creek and beyond to the beach are extraordinary! We have spent much time in Bodega Bay, camping when our daughter was young and now renting homes and this is far and away at the TOP of our list...we will be back! Thanks Frank for all you offer in this home."

  • Loved it.

"We very much enjoyed our stay. The place is dripping in history, (creamery in 1890s, prospective bootlegging location in 20s!) Mary Jane and her son in law met us to give us advice and ideas. The place is really right on the water and you have a continuous "show" of fishing boats, birds (Ack! We watched Hitchcock's "The Birds" and tried to scare ourselves), seals, etc., right out the window. We managed to launch kayaks right off the side deck (you have to time the tides,) drove the coast (amazing free beaches great for photography), ate at the harbor, went into Bodega, watched crabbers on Doran beach, etc. It was fun to be there during crab season to see all the activity. The 2 bedroom is plenty roomy enough for my husband and me and our two teenaged daughters. The age of the building gives this a quaint feel with wide stairwell and odd angles to the ceilings. Nice beds, plenty of towels, etc. I would warn anyone staying anywhere in Bodega do not have a "real" grocery store nearby, so getting what you want is higher in price and you may not get the "brand" you love. But it would totally destroy the visit if there was a Raleys or Bel Air! I rate this place a 5. It is not the Ritz, but I don't want to stay at the Ritz. I want to stay in a place where I can relax and enjoy."

  • Found our Family Get Away on the Coast

"We were looking for a spot on the coast close to where our adult kids and grand babies live to have some fall time at the coast ourselves and to entice our kids to come visit as their work and lives would allow too. It was perfect! There is so much we enjoyed about it! Being kid and dog friendly it was a perfect balance of nice w/o being fussy that you'd have to worry about them hurting things. We found the kitchen well equipped - we were there 8 days and ate all but one dinner there. Kitchen was small but efficient enough and while the auto water and ice didn't work on the refer door, there were plenty of ice cube trays to make it work (BTW....bring your own drinking water if you're fussy about unfiltered water). The pictures here don't give credit to the amazing views as you enter the house and catch your breath! Here are some things we especially enjoyed: - Waking up to the sunrise in the huge picture windows in the master bedroom - The views - the views - the views! Especially enjoyed sitting on the broad deck with lots of chairs and just enjoying the ocean, the Bay and the occasional golfer. Spent one full day just the two of us on the deck, reading, eating, enjoying some wine, etc. - The view from the hot tub is also amazing, but it's really a 2 person spa - MAYBE 3 if you squeeze. We enjoyed it everyday and our son and daughter in law did as well. - The huge master closet actually WAS used to put our granddaughter's afternoon naps in her Play-N-Pak. it's that big - nice and dark too. - Lovely dining alcove that again takes advantage of the view - Lots of linens and towels and blankets and throws - we made ourselves at home - A few games and puzzles - although we never got around to them what with the surf and the Giants in the World Series We'll be back! Loved it! We're from the SF Bay Area but haven't spent much time on the Sonoma Coast - it's beautiful. Drove up to Jenner and had an amazing late lunch with great view and gourmet dining at River's End. Enjoyed an afternoon having a picnic and shucking fresh fresh fresh oysters at Hog Island Oysters on Tomales Bay. So you don't get misled it's not perfect - there are some nuances, but things you can work around. We've rented up and down the Oregon and California Coast and would really recommend this."
