  • Wonderful holiday stay!

"My family stayed at the Bahia Retreat over the holidays. It was our first time at this house, and we loved it! This is a spacious home with lots of room to either gather or be by yourself. The layout is great for a family, our teenagers stayed in the den on the lower floor while the adults took over the living room upstairs, and we all would get together for meals in the upstairs dining area. The house is kept to much higher standards than a typical rental home, with lots of kitchen supplies and equipment. The owner's restaurant recommendations were spot on, especially for Occidental restaurants such as Bistro Copain for dinner and Howard's and the Wildflour Bakery for breakfast. We have already booked dates for the next year."

  • Comfortable, beautiful views

"We stayed here for two nights on our honeymoon. It's a really neat building - an old creamery - and is literally built over the water. There's a private balcony, a living room with great views of the bay, and a cozy bedroom with a very comfortable bed. The studio was clean, though it is in an older building so it's not that sterile clean you get with hotels. We opened up all the windows and had a great breeze off the bay the whole time we were there. We didn't get to meet the owner, but she was extremely easy to communicate with. The driveway can be a little tough to navigate, but that's the price you pay for literally being on the water! It's worth it. I don't recommend this place if you like sterile bleached hotel rooms, but I do recommend it if you like great views, wildlife, being in the heart of town, and a nice sea breeze!"

  • Perfect retreat for a wonderful holiday!

"As lovely as the photos on this website are, they do not do Casa Bella justice. The home is so lovely and welcoming. We arrived on Christmas eve, and Mia had decorated for Christmas with a huge, lovely tree! The setting is perfect--standing in the backyard, you have the view of the ocean and the wonderful sea air. The house has two living room areas, so there is plenty of space to visit and chat in comfort, and each of the three bedrooms has its own bath, which is excellent. The beds are super comfortable and made up with soft comfy bedding for a wonderful night's sleep. There is a full kitchen stocked with everything you need for cooking. But really, this home is better than the sum of its rooms...the best part of the home is the feeling we had from the moment we arrived. It is so inviting, and comfortable. This was the most wonderful Christmas holiday. We stayed for a week, and were sad to leave. We will definitely return to Casa Bella in the future."

  • Loved it.

"We very much enjoyed our stay. The place is dripping in history, (creamery in 1890s, prospective bootlegging location in 20s!) Mary Jane and her son in law met us to give us advice and ideas. The place is really right on the water and you have a continuous "show" of fishing boats, birds (Ack! We watched Hitchcock's "The Birds" and tried to scare ourselves), seals, etc., right out the window. We managed to launch kayaks right off the side deck (you have to time the tides,) drove the coast (amazing free beaches great for photography), ate at the harbor, went into Bodega, watched crabbers on Doran beach, etc. It was fun to be there during crab season to see all the activity. The 2 bedroom is plenty roomy enough for my husband and me and our two teenaged daughters. The age of the building gives this a quaint feel with wide stairwell and odd angles to the ceilings. Nice beds, plenty of towels, etc. I would warn anyone staying anywhere in Bodega do not have a "real" grocery store nearby, so getting what you want is higher in price and you may not get the "brand" you love. But it would totally destroy the visit if there was a Raleys or Bel Air! I rate this place a 5. It is not the Ritz, but I don't want to stay at the Ritz. I want to stay in a place where I can relax and enjoy."
