  • wonderful home + lovely setting

"we spent much of our spring break at abalone cove with another family and wished we could have stayed longer. everyone enjoyed the views, the hot tub and the house. the kids and dog especially loved the easy river access. our beach day was great fun; we only needed more time to explore wineries, bakeries, hiking and cycling options. Mel was very responsive!"

  • Wonderful & Sublime!

"We had a wonderful time @ Alpicella! The villa is sublime and the views incredible. They’re on a slope facing west with the most spectacular sunsets since Santorini! Dan & Betsy are just so nice and friendly :-) They're wonderful hosts who we now call friends. Their animals were so friendly; I even fed a deer right out of my hand! We highly recommend this villa for all those that want a true vineyard experience!"

  • Home away from home

"Pulling up to the property and being greeted by 2 beautiful white horses was an sign in itself this house was heaven!! My friends and I were planning a last minute wine touring trip in Somona and this house was perfect. It had everything you need to enjoy some quality time with your close friends. The owner is awesome and the house had a peaceful energy about it! The property is convenient too; even though it makes you feel like you are on a beautiful farm in the middle of no where! Hope to do this trip again soon!!"

  • Loved, loved, loved this serene and comfortable cottage!

"My family, consisting of myself, husband and two boys, ages 10 and 15, stayed here in July for a portion of our two week vacation around Northern California and were so pleasantly surprised and happy that we were able to stay in this super cozy vintage cottage! Initially we were a little taken aback by some of the first people we encountered in the area (a woman with tattoos, leather bustier, studded dog collar, and blue hair staying nearby) and later learned that this area is a bit of a haven for people who want to 'drop out' of society but that didn't deter us, and we weren't bothered by anyone so that was a non issue. The long walk up the many stairs also was,at first, a little worrying (I have a bum knee) but that too turned out not to be too much of a problem (having a strapping 15 year old boy to carry bags also helped a lot!). At the end of our stay, none of us wanted to leave! The cottage's decoration was spot on (I'm in the design field) for a 1930's cottage with Pottery Barn colors and quality furniture (especially the super comfortable mattresses...Memory foam) and accessories. High thread count sheets, good down filled pillows, new TV plus sound system with IPod hook up available, the hot tub (which was perfect after a day of activities), small but functional and cute kitchen, great balcony for morning coffee, and the two bathrooms was just perfect for us! Once we had 'moved in' the place had such a great energy! My husband slept in which he never does and even my 10 year old loved the place! It was great having access to the washer-dryer which was downstairs in the laundry room (complete with laundry detergent...I had brought my own but it is good for those who don't). There were also blow up rafts available and a kayak for taking down to the beach down by the river. The price of this place is reasonable as well considering it has two bathrooms, which was such a plus for having our two boys sharing the smaller bedroom. The cottage had everything and anything one could want in vacation rental (I have stayed in many and this one is great!). My only suggestion would be to try to figure out a way to put some screens on the vintage windows and possibly a Phantom screen on the French doors. There were screens in some of the windows and not on others and at night, we had some Mosquitos coming in so we had to keep some windows closed (it was warm during the day and no A/C that we could find). I would highly recommend this rental! Super cozy and clean!"
