Private, Quiet, Forest Behind is a Yoga Experience!
"The minute we drove up and opened the gate in the front fenced in yard we felt like we were far away in a fairy tale land all to ourselves. The front deck was charming to sit out on amongst redwoods, ground cover and plants....very peaceful and quaint!
The cabin itself was clean, warm and comfortable and we had all dishes and pots needed.
The highlight of the property was the back forest with ferns and trails along the creek, with magnificent views of very old redwoods rejuvenating themselves from what looked like a long past fire that went through the area. The Zen feeling walking through that area was so refreshing, like you were a zillion miles from civilization. It was the most mind clearing experience I've had in more years than I would like to mention. My husband was back there 4 times a day. When I couldn't find him there he appeared coming from the back with treasures.
Stop at The Blue Heron restaurant on hwy 116 in Duncan Mills. They have very good burgers and fish sandwiches. The locals are very friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed the bar seating since the restaurant was closed until dinner. Also we stopped every day at the bakery to pick up a treat, even though Jayne left home cooked oatmeal raisin chocolate cookies, de'lish!
If your into plants, on the other side of hwy 116 in Duncan Mills is an antique shop with outdoor plants. Our favorite place when we visit the area. Also a cool place for plants is a display of succulents outside of an old garage and across the street from a Chinese restaurant on Hwy 1. You would take Hwy 116 towards Jenner and take a left over the bridge. Family owned for generations. Super nice people who own the restaurant and camping sites on the property.
The Fernriver cabin is on the other side of a narrow street across from the Russian River. Although a peek a boo view of the river, you can access the river and town in minutes. We saw kayak rentals as we were crossing the bridge to the cabin. There's lots of fun in Duncan Mills! There is a small wine and cheese tasting place with outdoor seating and boutiques in a courtyard with outdoor wooden walk ways. Try Cape Fear in town for breakfast. The best breakfast ever and also serving lunch and dinner with wine and beer.
I would highly recommend the Riverfern cabin! The very reasonable price with many opportunities for eating out to the goat rock and blind beach beaches to shopping and peacefulness of the cabin and area. Enjoy it!"

Excellent location and accommodations. Great dealings with owner. Highly recommended.
"Our stay at the River House was terrific. We had 5 days which went by all too quickly.
We visited many of the local wineries and had excellent food and truly great experiences.
The river house was great for playing games and relaxing after a hard day of being a tourist. The hot tub was nice and my only regret is that I did not go kayaking enough. The scenery down the river is spectacular.
The state park, just a few miles from the house has spectacular views of the ocean and is a must see point of interest.
It is hard to describe how beautiful the area is, but we have walked away in awe of the scenery and pristine landscape.
The house itself had everything we needed and all dealings with Kelly were easy and professional. I highly recommend this place and feel it was perfect for our needs."

"This House on the river was a beautifully tranquil spot. Far from neighbors so you could really enjoy the sounds of nature. Watching the otters along with the Osprey, great blue herons and other birds was fun. Enjoyed visiting around the fire pit and playing games at the large dining room table. Spent one day kayaking up the river and the next at Goat Rock. The beds were awesome and the space in the kitchen was great for friends or family to gather around the large island counter. And the decks... Every bedroom has its own little private area outside a set of French doors. Really beautiful. We really enjoyed our stay."
