  • Great taste of summer!

"Our little family had a wonderful vacation here. The house is wonderful, very clean and neat. All the things you need when away. The deck is amazing. We BBQ'd and enjoyed the evening on the deck. We have a little boy who just started crawling, and I had no problem with him wandering around the house. We hope to come again!"

  • Beautiful Northern California retreat

"This was the perfect place to host a gathering of friends to celebrate my husband’s 50th birthday. We enjoyed cooking together in the well-equipped kitchen and on the large new grill. The extra dish washer was a plus to get everything quickly cleaned up afterwards. The swimming pool, ping pong table, air hockey table, and pool table provided hours of amusement for kids and adults. The gardens around the house are lush and mature, and we all delighted in “harvesting” and consuming grapes, apples, pears, and tomatoes. It felt like we were staying at our own private resort! The property also felt much more private than I had expected. When I looked on Google maps, it appeared to be part of a small subdivision. But somehow, the house and yard felt much more removed from it all—very quiet, with lovely views of tree covered hills, and a cow occasionally mooing from somewhere nearby. Yet it’s still a very short drive into town, or to Armstrong Redwoods. Lastly, we left behind a bag of shoes, but they politely replied to my inquiries about the missing shoes, and kindly mailed them back to us. The owners also asked for feedback on the house, and were very receptive to our suggestions. We would gladly go back!"

  • beautiful and spacious

"I just spent a long weekend at this cabin with a handful of friends and had the loveliest time. This is one of the nicest cabins that I have stayed at in the Russian River area, and I've tried out a handful over the years! When we arrived we were surprised to see how tall and large the cabin is -- it doesn't come across in the pictures, but the living room has this enormously high ceiling and a very tall window built to showcase the towering redwoods right outside. The cabin was very clean and furnished and arranged in an effortlessly functional and user-friendly way. It just felt so spacious and easy. We found all the tools we needed in the kitchen to cook some big feasts, including an amazing nonstick pan, and we really liked how the big dining table is in the kitchen so that we could all hang out and help with cooking prep together there. The ocean is nearby and Armstrong woods is even nearer. The only slightly goofy thing about this place was the character of the hot tub -- I had never been in one that felt so much like a kiddie pool and it was cramped for people with longer legs. But we enjoyed using it every night regardless, and would definitely come back again!"

  • Loved, loved, loved this serene and comfortable cottage!

"My family, consisting of myself, husband and two boys, ages 10 and 15, stayed here in July for a portion of our two week vacation around Northern California and were so pleasantly surprised and happy that we were able to stay in this super cozy vintage cottage! Initially we were a little taken aback by some of the first people we encountered in the area (a woman with tattoos, leather bustier, studded dog collar, and blue hair staying nearby) and later learned that this area is a bit of a haven for people who want to 'drop out' of society but that didn't deter us, and we weren't bothered by anyone so that was a non issue. The long walk up the many stairs also was,at first, a little worrying (I have a bum knee) but that too turned out not to be too much of a problem (having a strapping 15 year old boy to carry bags also helped a lot!). At the end of our stay, none of us wanted to leave! The cottage's decoration was spot on (I'm in the design field) for a 1930's cottage with Pottery Barn colors and quality furniture (especially the super comfortable mattresses...Memory foam) and accessories. High thread count sheets, good down filled pillows, new TV plus sound system with IPod hook up available, the hot tub (which was perfect after a day of activities), small but functional and cute kitchen, great balcony for morning coffee, and the two bathrooms was just perfect for us! Once we had 'moved in' the place had such a great energy! My husband slept in which he never does and even my 10 year old loved the place! It was great having access to the washer-dryer which was downstairs in the laundry room (complete with laundry detergent...I had brought my own but it is good for those who don't). There were also blow up rafts available and a kayak for taking down to the beach down by the river. The price of this place is reasonable as well considering it has two bathrooms, which was such a plus for having our two boys sharing the smaller bedroom. The cottage had everything and anything one could want in vacation rental (I have stayed in many and this one is great!). My only suggestion would be to try to figure out a way to put some screens on the vintage windows and possibly a Phantom screen on the French doors. There were screens in some of the windows and not on others and at night, we had some Mosquitos coming in so we had to keep some windows closed (it was warm during the day and no A/C that we could find). I would highly recommend this rental! Super cozy and clean!"
