  • Amazing!

"Your search for a place to stay in Gernville is over! Let me describe this enchanted place to you. You turn off the main road and snake your way up this hill dodging 8 foot wide redwoods. It seriously looks like your driving in a gnome village out of lord of the rings. Once I arrived "to one of the best houses on the street," my first words out of my mouth were "Oh My God I can't believe this!" The house is so nice and decorated really cute. The kitchen was very modern and nice. The shower had a rain head and was at least 5x5 feet. Oh and at night the "babbling brook," flowing under the house will sooth you right to sleep if the wine doesn't first! The location of the cabin was amazing. Everyday we drove to a new place. We did San Fransisco the first day, the ocean the next, and Napa the next day. It's about an hour of driving each way but the beautiful scenery makes it feel like 20 minutes. I did not want to come home to Texas after visiting this place. I would recommend babble on in one second to anyone thinking about going to this part of California!"

  • Perfect spot for our reunion

"I recently Nancy and Doug's home along with nine college friends from across the country. The home and the property were spectacular! It was perfect for our group in every way. The house itself if stunning, and as others have commented, it really does have everything you could possibly need. Nancy was fantastic to work with, and the personal touches she provided made us feel at home...wine upon our arrival, bottled water and chocolates in every bedroom, tomatoes from her garden just to name a few. We had an amazing reunion and hope to be back again!"

  • Loved, loved, loved this serene and comfortable cottage!

"My family, consisting of myself, husband and two boys, ages 10 and 15, stayed here in July for a portion of our two week vacation around Northern California and were so pleasantly surprised and happy that we were able to stay in this super cozy vintage cottage! Initially we were a little taken aback by some of the first people we encountered in the area (a woman with tattoos, leather bustier, studded dog collar, and blue hair staying nearby) and later learned that this area is a bit of a haven for people who want to 'drop out' of society but that didn't deter us, and we weren't bothered by anyone so that was a non issue. The long walk up the many stairs also was,at first, a little worrying (I have a bum knee) but that too turned out not to be too much of a problem (having a strapping 15 year old boy to carry bags also helped a lot!). At the end of our stay, none of us wanted to leave! The cottage's decoration was spot on (I'm in the design field) for a 1930's cottage with Pottery Barn colors and quality furniture (especially the super comfortable mattresses...Memory foam) and accessories. High thread count sheets, good down filled pillows, new TV plus sound system with IPod hook up available, the hot tub (which was perfect after a day of activities), small but functional and cute kitchen, great balcony for morning coffee, and the two bathrooms was just perfect for us! Once we had 'moved in' the place had such a great energy! My husband slept in which he never does and even my 10 year old loved the place! It was great having access to the washer-dryer which was downstairs in the laundry room (complete with laundry detergent...I had brought my own but it is good for those who don't). There were also blow up rafts available and a kayak for taking down to the beach down by the river. The price of this place is reasonable as well considering it has two bathrooms, which was such a plus for having our two boys sharing the smaller bedroom. The cottage had everything and anything one could want in vacation rental (I have stayed in many and this one is great!). My only suggestion would be to try to figure out a way to put some screens on the vintage windows and possibly a Phantom screen on the French doors. There were screens in some of the windows and not on others and at night, we had some Mosquitos coming in so we had to keep some windows closed (it was warm during the day and no A/C that we could find). I would highly recommend this rental! Super cozy and clean!"
