  • A sublime rime

"About thirty of us, family and friends gathered at Anvil for the celebration of eight anniversaries (1974 for the earliest, 2010 the most recent) and the engagement party of my daughter and her fiance. Our weekend was the perfect blend of enjoyment, relaxation and stunning natural beauty. Though we were there in early November, the weather was sparkling with temperatures warm to cool. Moonlight scavenger hunt formthe children, daytime hiking, boating and hot tubbing for the adults and an epic night of Mexican boxcar dominoes were the highlights of our visit. Our first night we dined on the front lawn and danced in the courtyard while the full moon rose over the vineyard. The second we dined on Sam's signature pizzas from the wood burning oven in the vineyard itself. Shannon and Sam saw to every detail to insure a magical time for all our guests. The engaged couple have chosen Anvil for their wedding venue so we will return in November 2016. From the fresh mountain air, the cloud filled valleys around the property in the early morning and the richness of the sunsets, Anvil is a treat for the senses. The guest house and the carriage house rooms were clean, comfortable and bright with thoughtful touches. The kitchen and dining areas are spacious. There are plenty of cosy little niches indoors and out for private moments and quiet conversation as well as plenty of big fun sites."

  • Wonderful vacation getaway!

"Where do I start? From the darling entry way courtyard decorated with a Meyer lemon tree, to the fabulous location, to the beautiful lake view! And, the bocce ball court! This house has it all! Centrally located near all of the best wineries and the adorable town of Healdsburg. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in this clean, large and well appointed home. It really does have everything you need to enjoy your stay. Don't miss out on this vacation getaway!"

  • Beautiful Property Right on the Russian River

"This property met and exceeded our expectations! Great location not too far from downtown Guerneville, but yet quiet and secluded among the redwoods. Gorgeous well maintained home with all the amenities to make us feel right at home. We were a group of 6 adults and found the size and layout of this house perfect for our needs, with two bedrooms on the main floor and a cozy loft up a flight of stairs all connected to a huge family room with high ceilings and lots of windows to let in light and river views. Lots of plates/utensils/glasses/etc four our group to use (and not mismatched sets either!). They even provided beach towels which was a nice touch. The outdoor deck area was a wonderful place to spend an afternoon grilling and relaxing in the hot tub all with a view of the Russian River. This property also has a huge lawn area along the river, which was a great place to sit with a glass of wine or toss around a Frisbee. Great location to visit sights like Korbel, Santa Rosa, and Fort Ross. Property owner Mike was very responsive to email and answered all of our questions quickly and accurately when we were booking this property and made sure everything was in tip top shape for our stay. We’re already talking about booking our next stay here."

  • Very nice place, had a fine time

"We enjoyed our weeklong stay here. It's clean, well-equipped and comfortable, just a half-mile down the road from the 1,300-acre Chalk Hill Winery. It's a bit far from downtown Healdsburg, especially considering that the bridge was closed for repairs, but still a good value. The owner, John, is a great guy and came to our help immediately when we had a small problem. Definitely recommend this place."
