  • Wonderful home in San Clemente

"We spent a week in San Clemente and had a wonderful time. The home was absolutely gorgous! Decorated beautifully, clean and so organzied. The owner was an absolute joy to work with. The manager was also wonderful to work with. We would highly recommend this home to large family, families traveling together or for couples. We had 3 children and 5 adults and it was perfect. We can't wait to get back to san Clemente and hopefully get this house again."

  • Fun with Family and Friends

"All I have to say is we definitely plan on coming back! The rental process was straight forward and easy. It was such a pleasure working with the owner. As for the house it was wonderful! The pictures don't really do it justice. The house is bigger in person and the "old/antique" decor suits the home. There are two large patios for entertaining/hanging out with a gorgeous view of the lake. We read reviews before deciding to rent and some of the cons that others mentioned I paid attention to during our stay. One of the minor issues I read about in a review was that the air conditioner wasn't strong enough for the entire home. The AC units may seem small but as long as you keep the doors closed the home stays cool. The home comes with many fans and if you turn those on at the same time it helps circulate the cold air. The weather ranged between 90-100 degrees during our stay and we had no issues with the AC units. Another thing that some may consider a downside would be the walk up and down to the beach. Our trip consisted of all adults between 25-40 yrs old so it wasn't much of a problem for us. It was a little exhausting because of the heat but the view from the house and the private beach were definitely worth a little exercise. The next time we go we will be bringing kids and some older parents so we already thought of a solution, if they can't climb down the hill to get to the boat we can always drive them to the boat launch around the corner and just pick them up there with the boat. We really enjoyed the use of the paddle boat and canoe. We didn't think we would use it during our stay but it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. Thanks for the memories and can't wait to come back! We would definitely recommend this property!"

  • Perfect Tahoe Cabin

"This beautiful house has everything you could possible want during your stay in Tahoe! I stayed at the cabin in late September 2014 with two other friends. We all loved the cabin. The cabin is warm and cozy and we had more than enough space. The cabin has a very large family room area with a TV/fireplace and a really nice kitchen. The other rooms, like the bedrooms, are also very large. There are multiple bathrooms. We ended up cooking a few of our meals there and the kitchen had everything we needed. The cabin was clean, neat, and decorated very nicely. It is in a nice quiet neighborhood but also centrally located and a short drive from the casinos. When I go to Tahoe next, I definitely plan on staying here."

  • Wedding at Sugar Bowl Ski Lodge

"12 of my good friends and my elderly parents stayed at the Schull Lodge and it was AWESOME! Everyone had plenty of space and comfortable places to sit. The view was spectacular. Red-tail and red shouldered hawks put on a great show and the sunset view over the mountains was incredible. The kitchen was very well stocked with one exception, it could use a big stock pot for soups. Sidney, who manages the lodge is very helpful and had we asked I am sure she would have brought one. The 8 ft in diameter round table sat 12 and one of my friends traveled with candles which made a nice ambient light for eating dinner. The beds were very comfortable. I had planned on putting my parents, who are in their 80s, in the main bedroom but as it turned out there is a bedroom on the same floor as the kitchen and living room that was much more convenient and quiet. From the road, this property almost looks like a one story warehouse. It's very deceptive because it is built on the hillside and is actually three stories. All of the windows are on the SW side. The sunshine just pours into the place making afternoon naps so easy. There is plenty of parking and only one neighboring house. I can imagine in the winter the views of the skiers would be highly entertaining. It was less than a mile on a flat road to the main Sugar Bowl Ski Lodge. Many of my friends took off on hikes right from the house. Other amenities included a hot tub and pool table. The hot tub was big and on the deck with great views. I noticed a grill as well and the entrance had a ski boot warming rack! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place for large groups of people."

California Travel Tips

Our country’s largest state by population, and third largest by area, is home to a wonderful diversity in cultures, climate and landscapes. Here are the top sites to see and things to do in California by region:

The Bay Area

The Bay Area is best known as a free-spirited locale that is home to the biggest tech giants in Silicon Valley, including Facebook, Twitter, Google and Microsoft. It’s anchored by two major cities - San Jose to the south and hilly San Francisco, a major tourist destination on the north end. Here are the top things to do while you’re in the Bay Area:

- Visit the sites in San Francisco. You can’t miss the iconic Golden Gate Bridge - bike across it, walk or take an open-air tour bus to experience the massive bridge in all its glory. Visitors can also take a ferry and tour spooky Alcatraz Island. Other attractions include shopping on Fisherman’s Wharf, checking out the sea lions on Pier 39 and immersing yourself in science at The Exploratorium and California Academy of Sciences. If you’re traveling here in the summer, bring a jacket! SF can be blazing hot and then overcast and chilly within the same day as the famed fog rolls in.

- Head north across the Golden Gate to see the giant redwoods in Muir Woods and check out some excellent wineries in the charming Sonoma and Napa valleys.

- Visit the amazing Monterey Bay Aquarium and nearby beaches San Carlos Beach Park and Pebble Beach.

- Be one with nature at Yosemite National Park in the Sierra Nevadas or climb the famous Half Dome and El Capitan mountains.

- Go skiing or participate in other adventure sports in Lake Tahoe, just north of Yosemite.

Southern California

SoCal, as it’s sometimes called, is one of the sunniest and most celeb-studded places in the country. There’s plenty to do and see in and around Los Angeles and San Diego, the two major cities in the area. Here are the top spots:

- If you’re traveling with kids around L.A., head to Disneyland in Anaheim - the only Disney Park built under the direction of The Man Behind the Magic himself. Or, check out Knotts Berry Farm, a perennial childhood favorite that first opened in 1940. There are roller coasters, kids’ rides, games and plenty of fun for everyone. Don’t miss dining at Mrs. Knott’s California Marketplace for the renowned fried chicken, biscuits and boysenberry pie.

- L.A. is also the epicenter of the entertainment industry. Check out the Hollywood Walk of Fame, take a tour of Universal Studios and hike in the area surrounding the Hollywood Sign.

- Catch a Lakers game or popular concert at the Staples Center

- Take a hike in the Joshua Tree National Park in the beautiful Mojave Desert.

- Southern California is also home to some excellent festivals: Coachella Music Fest in Coachella Valley, the annual L.A. County Fair and the Newport Beach Film Festival, not to mention the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards. If you want to see some major celebrities, hang out in one of the cafes or restaurants on Rodeo Drive.

- If you’re traveling with kids in San Diego, Seaworld or the esteemed San Diego Zoo are excellent options, and Legoland in nearby Carlsbad will provide hours of fun.

- The valleys in central California are less-populated than the coastal areas, but one must-see is the Hearst Castle. It’s an ornate, palatial, 165-room home built for newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst and set among 127 acres of gardens in San Simeon, halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles.
