  • Our Delightful Home Away from Home

"This IS our home away from home in Palm Springs. We have rented from this owner 3 times and he is a pleasure. I’ve hesitated to write a review because his house gets snapped up quickly! For good values, it is always wise to plan ahead as much as possible. This home is located in Deep Well, a beautiful neighborhood in South Palm Springs. It has a double lot (very unusual for the area) and once you drive into the two-car garage and enter the property -- you are in a private world of your own. The landscaping is just beautiful -- and the view of Mount San Jacinto while you lounge by the pool is breathtaking. There is a caretaker who will show you how to operate everything in the house, as well as the pools – and will leave you to enjoy your privacy but is a phone call away if a need arises. The in-house stereo system can easily be programmed to play in one room – or in any combination of rooms. Two hybrid mountain/road bikes are available in the garage, allowing renters to bike on designated bike lanes in the Deep Well neighborhood and beyond. If you like to entertain, it’s a “cook’s kitchen” with top of the line appliances -- including a separate refrigerated wine cooler. Every cooking tool I’ve needed has been there. When I found the Cusinart stored in the one of the cabinets, I said to my husband, “The owner has thought of everything!” The kitchen is large enough to include a table of eight; another table of eight is outside by the salt-water pool and Jacuzzi. It’s a truly serene and easy-to-care-for home that ensures a relaxing vacation. A wonderful rental –if you love to visit Palm Springs, you will rent it again and again. Thanks so much, Bob!"

  • Wonderful time in a lovely home, great community!

"We traveled to SD in mid August and were very pleased with the home, location, and owners’ response. Our stay was relaxing and very enjoyable. We came midweek to transition our daughter to her dorm at SDSU and enjoy some quality family time as well. It was great that everything is truly within walking distance with some lovely restaurants, a fantastic beach, fun shops and lots of interesting and friendly locals. The first morning we were suddenly awakened by the sound of jets flying above, but the following days we quickly acclimated. The afternoon heat however was a bit too much for us. The AC runs well in one part of the house only and by evening the bedrooms are too hot to sleep in, although the beds are very much comfortable. When home during the day we tended to stay in the one room with air conditioning, and the only working television. The TVs in the bedrooms did not work, but that only meant more family time so not a worry. Overall, this is a lovely home. We really enjoyed the Jacuzzi and being close to the beach and having everything within reach in the community. Viewing SeaWorld’s great fireworks from the upper deck on Saturday night was an added benefit. The owners were very kind and available for any needs; they were gracious in letting our family have a late checkout to spend just a little more time in SD with our daughter. We would definitely consider returning in the future, maybe not in the heat of summer, and I would highly recommend this home for others that want the convenience of a cozy home in a great location."

  • Perfect for a quiet getaway!

"What a beautiful home! Comfortable, clean, well-furnished, and perfect for an individual, a mature couple’s destination or a quiet girl’s weekend. Bob and Louise were onsite to meet me when I arrived and make sure I was all set. The location is ideal in so many ways, close to the beach, shopping, and many restaurants. The kitchen is fully equipped with just about anything you can think of, and this made meal preparation at the condo very easy. Louise recommended a great fish market close by, Santa Monica Seafood on 17th Street just off of Newport Blvd., and they had an incredible selection of fresh fish. Having Pavillion’s just a couple of blocks away made for convenient grocery shopping. For dining out I enjoyed Harborside Restaurant near the Balboa Pier with friends who live close by, the calamari appetizer and halibut dinner entrée were both excellent. There is so much to compliment with the neighborhood being very quiet, being on the water created an incredible ambiance unlike any other, and having a place to park the car was priceless. Thank you, Bob and Louise!"

  • Girls Trip

"This condo was perfect for a girlfriend's getaway. The view from the condo was beautiful! The condo, as well as the entire complex, was clean, well kept and quiet. Although we did not take advantage of all the amenities that are available, we did see that they were lovely and in excellent condition. There were several good restaurants, bars and shops within walking distance. I would absolutely stay here again!!"

California Travel Tips

Our country’s largest state by population, and third largest by area, is home to a wonderful diversity in cultures, climate and landscapes. Here are the top sites to see and things to do in California by region:

The Bay Area

The Bay Area is best known as a free-spirited locale that is home to the biggest tech giants in Silicon Valley, including Facebook, Twitter, Google and Microsoft. It’s anchored by two major cities - San Jose to the south and hilly San Francisco, a major tourist destination on the north end. Here are the top things to do while you’re in the Bay Area:

- Visit the sites in San Francisco. You can’t miss the iconic Golden Gate Bridge - bike across it, walk or take an open-air tour bus to experience the massive bridge in all its glory. Visitors can also take a ferry and tour spooky Alcatraz Island. Other attractions include shopping on Fisherman’s Wharf, checking out the sea lions on Pier 39 and immersing yourself in science at The Exploratorium and California Academy of Sciences. If you’re traveling here in the summer, bring a jacket! SF can be blazing hot and then overcast and chilly within the same day as the famed fog rolls in.

- Head north across the Golden Gate to see the giant redwoods in Muir Woods and check out some excellent wineries in the charming Sonoma and Napa valleys.

- Visit the amazing Monterey Bay Aquarium and nearby beaches San Carlos Beach Park and Pebble Beach.

- Be one with nature at Yosemite National Park in the Sierra Nevadas or climb the famous Half Dome and El Capitan mountains.

- Go skiing or participate in other adventure sports in Lake Tahoe, just north of Yosemite.

Southern California

SoCal, as it’s sometimes called, is one of the sunniest and most celeb-studded places in the country. There’s plenty to do and see in and around Los Angeles and San Diego, the two major cities in the area. Here are the top spots:

- If you’re traveling with kids around L.A., head to Disneyland in Anaheim - the only Disney Park built under the direction of The Man Behind the Magic himself. Or, check out Knotts Berry Farm, a perennial childhood favorite that first opened in 1940. There are roller coasters, kids’ rides, games and plenty of fun for everyone. Don’t miss dining at Mrs. Knott’s California Marketplace for the renowned fried chicken, biscuits and boysenberry pie.

- L.A. is also the epicenter of the entertainment industry. Check out the Hollywood Walk of Fame, take a tour of Universal Studios and hike in the area surrounding the Hollywood Sign.

- Catch a Lakers game or popular concert at the Staples Center

- Take a hike in the Joshua Tree National Park in the beautiful Mojave Desert.

- Southern California is also home to some excellent festivals: Coachella Music Fest in Coachella Valley, the annual L.A. County Fair and the Newport Beach Film Festival, not to mention the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards. If you want to see some major celebrities, hang out in one of the cafes or restaurants on Rodeo Drive.

- If you’re traveling with kids in San Diego, Seaworld or the esteemed San Diego Zoo are excellent options, and Legoland in nearby Carlsbad will provide hours of fun.

- The valleys in central California are less-populated than the coastal areas, but one must-see is the Hearst Castle. It’s an ornate, palatial, 165-room home built for newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst and set among 127 acres of gardens in San Simeon, halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles.
