"I booked the property for myself and a couple friends as a quiet retreat to prepare for my daughters wedding at Chief Hosa Lodge. The grounds are heavily forested and offered the true quiet mountain retreat. The house has an updated full size kitchen with all the appliances and tools you need to cook, BBQ or just chill and relax on the expansive deck with a glass of wine looking into the trees...as we did many evenings. Full size billiard table, several flat screen tv's & DVD players for the enjoyment, nicely appointed bedrooms & baths have the resort feel, bunk beds in 3rd bedroom. Hot tub was awesome in afternoon or evening. House is close to downtown Evergreen offering great food, golf course, biking, hiking, fishing. The owner is friendly and offered lots of suggestions for activities."

"Over all my husband and I had a great 5 night stay at the Writers Nest. It is definitely in the mountains so I would suggest I small SUV to make it up the mountain. It takes about 20 minutes to get down the mountain to evergreen. The cabin wasn't as clean as I had hoped for but what do you expect when the guests are asked to do the cleaning. Will probably visit another part of Colorado next time."

"My friend and I stayed at the cabin. The place was very clean and homely . . . in short, it's a great getaway. I appreciated having the fireplace, which we used all weekend. The kitchen has decent utensils for cooking. No dishwasher. The only negative I would say is that the back patio and front porches are average, and not THAT inviting to hang out. But the inside is very nice and cozy. Owner was also very friendly and helpful."

"We had just a wonderful time at this location. It is a beautiful, well-maintained home on a huge plot of land. There are lots of rooms and spare sheets for everyone. We went to my brother's wedding and had a fabulous time. Mike is extremely personable and helpful and greeted us when we came, but was totally hands-off and not in our business at all. He just made himself available if we needed him. At one point we were panicked because it was raining and the wedding was outdoors, and Mike got us two large patio umbrellas to bring! Which was super thoughtful and above and beyond the call of duty.
We loved the playroom and the board games, and there was a pack-n-play and 2 high chairs for our baby which made it so much easier. The kitchen was super well-stocked and had necessities like even creamer and ketchup left over so we didn't have to buy a ton of stuff that we would have to throw away afterwards.
We saw a bunny and lots of birds. We had just missed elk season but there is a wall in the house with photos of past elk sightings!
The hot tub was great to lounge in and look up at all the stars.
This was ten times better than a hotel for a family because you are all together and don't have to stay in a hotel room during baby naps.
We were just so happy and impressed with this home. We came in the summer and may come back again in the winter! We loved it!"
