  • A wonderful getaway

"My wife and 13 year old Labrador enjoyed our stay at this quaint and rustic cottage. Everything we needed was there, and I particularly enjoyed having a coffee grinder! There was a lot more room than we needed, and the cabin would be perfect for a large family. Next time we will bring some of our nieces and nephews. Internet was not working, but I wanted some time off the grid and the office did just fine without me. The location was perfect for us, close enough to Black Hawk for the gambling and close to Nederland where we found some wonderful dining. Everywhere is a great view and very quiet. It isn't a bad drive to Estes Park either, and the Peak to Peak highway is a drive everyone should take at least once. Tips on the rock pile in back; wait at least two full days to climb it if you are flatlanders like us! The view is definitely worth the hike, but it is pretty vertical back there! Thanks Viveca for making this property available to us. We will be returning."

  • Family Reunion

"The Bear's Lair is an excellent place to rent for a fabulous vacation. The layout of the house makes it great for multigenerational groups. Most of the bedrooms lay away from the main area to give privacy and quiet. Then the 2 living areas are right above each other in the 2 floor house to give an area for different activities but keep you away from ones trying to sleep in or go to bed earlier than others. We enjoyed the openness of the kitchen and living room area. With 5 children ages 4 or below it made a great area to let children play while cooking or playing games at the table. The second living area gave the older children room to watch movies or play pool, etc. The area is a great area to travel just a bit and enjoy many mountain activities such as white-water rafting, hiking, tours of gold mines and picnicking while being close enough to Golden and Denver to be able to go to the zoo and amusement park. Just a few of the many activities our group were able to enjoy doing."

  • Serene, Beautiful and Owners that are great to work with

"Beautiful home, amazing surroundings and a no hassle approach from the owners who helped with silly stuff like making sure we had the right directions, checking to see if we needed anything and giving us shopping advice for food and sundries. I dont write many reviews but I recommend this rental if you are going to this amazing part of the country"

  • Like staying at your own private national park

"This home was the best VRBO we've ever stayed at and we've stayed at quite a few. It was very comfortable, private, clean, spacious, nicely furnished, adequately stocked and in the perfect location. We loved it. The outdoors was full of adventure - hiking, walking, watching and listening to the stream, bird watching, and sitting by the campfire. The location couldn't be better for being closely located to several towns, highway, campgrounds, trailheads, and DIA. I can't wait to return."
