"We stayed here with our 5 grandchildren for a week and loved it. The kids fished in the river and made a fire every evening. The house was very clean and it had a great room with a large table which was great for games."

"We just recently returned from a 9 day trip to RMNP and spent the first 6 nights at Greenbrook while we day hiked all over the east side of the park. I had debated staying in Estes Park, but after leaving our quiet little spot in Allenspark and driving through the crowded Estes Park streets, I'm so GLAD we stayed at Greenbrook!!! We drove the 10 minutes to the Wild Basin area for several hikes there (I HIGHLY recommend the Lion Lake trail) and also took at short stroll on the Mt. St. Vrain trail right down the road (and up another dirt one) from Allenspark.
One night my husband and I left our teenagers to fend for themselves and splurged on dinner at The Fawn Brook Inn, practically across the street from the cabin. The food and atmosphere was superb but the hummingbirds buzzing throughout the flowers in the front made the evening even more unique. We felt like we were in some kind of enchanted garden. 😉
Our daughter stayed in the second bedroom and our 14yr old took the loft where he had PLENTY of room. Two middle school aged kids could easily sleep in that space....or even 3 grade school kids (as long as one didn't roll around a lot). While he couldn't stand up completely to change clothes, he had plenty of space to stretch out. The other two bedrooms were private and quiet - as was the whole cabin. We could catch glimpses of other homes through the trees but still felt completely alone in the woods with a babbling brook nearby.
The drive into Estes Park and the Beaver Meadows entrance took about 20-30 minutes. If you're traveling in the summer I would recommend early starts to those more popular trails. Parking is usually full by 9am, but by driving early in the morning we not only avoided traffic on the roads, but we were also treated to bear, moose and multiple elk sightings.
Greenbrook was clean, comfortable and stocked with all the necessities to cook a good meal after a day on the trails. A binder is provided with additional information about the area. I'm glad we were mindful of the instructions to not keep groceries in the car. One morning there were large bear prints outside and an overturned (but safety locked) garbage can. While I know it's a minor annoyance for people who live in Allenspark, for us it just added to our fabulous adventure!!
I would recommend this cabin to a friend and we would definitely stay here again!!!"

"My husband and I took a little escape and stayed for 3 nights at a time (Halloween) when snow was questionable. A few days before our arrival however, snow blanketed the top of the mountain where Saudade rests. We left Denver at a balmy 70 degrees, and the temps dropped as we approached Idaho Springs. Driving the small 8 mile paved road up the mountain, little snow flurries started hitting the car and snow was blanketing the ground. CJ's directions are great, although we did not see any Big Horn Sheep, which was disappointing! We finally pulled into the snowy driveway with big grins on our faces.
After unloading our bags and groceries from the car (buy ahead of time - good advice!), we immediately pulled on our snow pants & wandered the property. Sitting by the stream in front of the cabin was perfect - (https://www.instagram.com/lizcoblaz/ if you want to see my video/pics!).
We settled in & started a fire as it got dark, watching the birds, hoping for critters to appear, other than the mean squirrel on the deck.
The next day we wandered around Lake Quivera, the private fishing lake close by, and also hiked up to St. Mary's Glacier. All very beautiful and breathtaking (literally!). We finally got back in the car on the 3rd day and drove into Georgetown, visiting the Hotel de Paris Museum (great tour!!), and wandering around the shops.
On our final night we caught a glimpse of the red fox that had been leaving its tracks around the property. That was great, but by the time we threw out some fox food (a cabin bonus!), it ran away & then we were only visited by a raccoon.
There is so much to do and see, while staying at this cabin, as well as big comfy chairs that allow you to sit and do nothing in your stretchy pants. CJ and John have thought of every amenity to make for the best getaway possible. I highly recommend others to go, but not too many, because we want to stay again as well!
Thank you again, CJ & John, for opening your cabin to us & being so very accommodating and inviting. It was perfect."

"What a magical place! We just returned from a 3 night stay at this hidden gem, and I miss it already. The setting is breathtaking, the cabin is well stocked and the host is warmly engaging as well as extremely helpful ( he loaned us one of his cars when our rental wouldn't start). Yes, the road in is challenging for us flat landers, but the trek is well worth it. The cabin is decorated with loving care and most of the pieces has special meaning. Ask for the back stories!
We have stayed in numerous cabins and other vacation rentals, and I have to say that I have never seen one so well stocked or gotten to know the owner so well. It was a great experience all around. We have an adventurous and responsible 10 year old, and the property was great for her, but I wouldn't bring very young children to the cabin.
The beds were very comfortable as was the rest of the house. Wish I could have lingered longer."
