"Alan's home was perfect for our family vacation. We comfortably housed 9 adults and a baby--and had plenty of room. Alan called us several times during our stay to make sure we had everything we needed. The kitchen was very well stocked and there were more linens than we could use. We appreciated having a washer and dryer and a dishwasher which made no noise! Great house, we will stay there again!"Guest: Ann Date of Stay: September 2014 Review Submitted: September 24, 2014View listing
"A perfect home away from home. Close enough to be extremely accessible for family coming from both Boulder and Fort Collins to meet us for a pre-Thanksgiving gathering, yet remote enough to allow us a tranquil escape from our hectic city lives. A wonderful place to stay anytime of the year! The owners go above and beyond to create a welcoming family environment (even for our dog!) and make sure all of your needs are met. The kitchen was well-equipped to make great meals for our 6 people, and the towels and linens were of really nice quality. Our morning coffee either on the outside balcony or sitting in the comfortable light-filled living area was lovely. And the view from the short walk up to the ridge was breathtaking. When the time came, none of us wanted to leave! Thank you Todd and Joan for opening your home and sharing your little piece of Heaven with our family!"Guest: The Four C's Date of Stay: November 2014 Review Submitted: November 24, 2014View listing
"Our family of four stayed at this residence for 8 nights. The house was in a quiet residential neighborhood, had a lovely view, was large and spacious with 3 bedrooms and a family room with a door (which served as a fourth bedroom), and a large living room and dining room. Our host was responsive to every phone call, e-mail and communicated in an agreeable and positive way during our stay there. That being said, there appeared to be a significant disconnect between the owner’s responses and her actions regarding problems which we encountered in her home. I informed her that I waited to write a review until she had time to take care of the issues; however, over a month later and after several e-mail communications, she has not admitted doing anything to rectify them. And she did not appreciate me asking her about them. I consider these issues to be relatively minor but also feel responsible to other consumers on VRBO, as I depend on their reviews to make my decisions. Three Issues: 1) There was only two usable pans/pots in the kitchen besides two cast iron oven pots and several non stick pans, all of which were very seriously damaged by numerous large and deep scratches to the point where I felt they were unsafe to use. ( I travel a lot and rent homes and understand that it is common for some renters to damage non stick pans, but I do expect that to be monitored). When I informed the owner/host she apologized and agreed that I could at least purchase one pan to supplement what she had and that she would reimburse me for the cost. (I purchased two and kept one). But she has not confirmed replacing them. 2)When I went to use the front loading washing machine I noticed the rubber lip had not been cleaned in so long that there was quite a lot of water standing in the bottom of the lip, perhaps 2 cups and areas of the lip appeared to be moldy, and full of thick yucky stuff, not a good sign for washing clothes there. I cleaned the entire lip as well as I could, informed the owner, explained how and why it needed to be cleaned regularly (if the lip becomes very moldy, the washing machine may have to be replaced) but she has not confirmed that she has done anything about this. 3) I was told to leave the garbage out on a Friday morning for a 7 am pick up.(Animals are around so it had to be a morning effort) Of course, that was the morning we were all sleeping in but I diligently put out the garbage and it wasn’t picked up. When I informed the"Guest: Sara Date of Stay: September 2014 Review Submitted: October 30, 2014View listing
"We stayed at Mabel's Cabin for three nights and had a wonderful time. The cabin is so cute and authentic, but also comfortable and relaxing. It is literally a half block from shopping and dining and a short drive into Rocky Mountain National Park. A perfect location!"Guest: Lynn D. Front Range Travel Tips
Colorado’s Front Range, a Great Vacation Destination
The "Front Range" is a colloquial term for the area located just east of the foothills of the Front Range. It covers the areas of Boulder, Black Hawk, Central City, Clear Creek County, Estes Park, Fort Collins, Golden, Greeley, Longmont, Loveland and Nederland. Situated less than an hour’s drive from Denver and its major airport, you will find yourself in the foothills of the Front Range Mountains. Average temperatures here are in the mid-20s Fahrenheit in winter to the high-80s Fahrenheit in summer.
Getting around this beautiful area could not be easier. Good interstate and main highways make accessing each of the wonderful cities and towns simple and convenient. In fact, there are more scenic and historic drives within easy distance of our Front Range vacation homes than any other state in the country.
An Ideal Outdoor Experience for the Whole Family
For a vacation where outdoor activities and sight-seeing are high on your "to do" list, you will be delighted with a Front Range lodging. Wherever you choose as a base your vacation, you will find plenty to do and see. It is said that the Front Range inspired the words for "America the Beautiful" and once here, you will understand why. To see the panorama that inspired these words, take the Pikes Peak Cog Railway. On the trip, you will pass by some of the oldest living things on earth--the bristlecone pines. Some of which are over 2,000 years old! Give the kids a taste of farm life by visiting a real working farm. Or visit the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forest and Pawnee National Grasslands for 1.5 million acres of wilderness with activities like horse riding, hiking and biking in summer and snowmobiling in winter.
For less active day trips, there are a variety of wonderful drives. The Mount Evans Scenic and Historic Byway will not only provide glorious views, it is also one of the best places to catch sight of the local bighorn sheep. The historic Lariet Loop encompasses the stunning Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre, the town of Golden--famous for the Coors Brewery--and the sight of the grave of Wild Bill Cody, also known as Buffalo Bill. In Central City, the Victorian age opera house is worth a visit along with the historic Moffat Tunnel. A detour will take you to the ghost towns of Hesse and Apex.
The Majesty of the Mountains
If truly spectacular scenery is a must for your perfect destination, the obvious place to find view after amazing view is the Rocky Mountains. Winter here brings world-famous skiing and the fun continues throughout the year. Whether you want to ride a horse or a bike or just hike, there are an abundance of trails to explore, from easy to death-defying! Just imagine choosing one of our Front Range vacation rentals with the Rocky Mountains as your backdrop!
