  • Bachelor Weekend

"Stayed in Brian's place with my brothers and a few friends for my brother Luke's bachelor party. Aspen is a great place obviously to catch some amazing pow, and take a few days to ride the slopes. Not the absolute best for chasing girls, lol, but as far as the rental it was great. No real complaints here, everything was as expected, the patio on the back was really refreshing, literally over the creek in the back. Hadn't seen much of a set-up like that before. We didn't have a car so we ended up walking most places. The grocery store is close, maybe 3 blocks so you should be good in that respect. Make sure you take day off to do the snowmobiling tour in Aspen, it's really on point. Only complaint would be that the door to the public hot-tub was locked late night (it's surrounded by a gate), and that's usually when I like to go. Catch it earlier I guess if you want to use it!"

  • 5 stars, yes, affordable Aspen Unit, but...

"If you are looking for a relatively inexpensive, comfortable and convenient place to stay in Aspen, this location fits that bill. The unit was clean. Easy walking distance to Aspen town center, buses, and some ski lifts. Also, if you come to Aspen with a car, you get a parking pass and there is parking in front of the building, so no issue bringing a car. Kitchen is adequately stocked, plenty of towels (no wash clothes, which was odd). I loved the fact that the owner uses the payment gateway through Homeaway.com; reserving and paying were super simple. If you have used Homeaway.com or VRBO a few times, some owners are either not in the 21st century or make you jump through ridiculous hoops to reserve and pay. This place was super easy and that is appreciated. The bed is an innerspring mattress with a memory foam pillow top. It was comfortable and reasonably, but not overly, firm. Plenty of storage for clothes and your stuff. Bottom line, this property met my needs, met my expectations, and therefore I give it 5 stars. Some things to know: 1. This property is practically a basement. There is almost no natural light that comes into the unit. That gives your mind the "casino effect" in that you have no sense of the time of day when you are in the unit. Which makes the interior design scheme an odd choice. The unit is dark already and the interior design choices make it even darker. Objectively, I am glad they made the effort to make the place look nice (and it does); they really should have gone with lighter colors to help brighten the space. 2. Internet was okay, but spotty. It seems to be a central wifi that is shared with other units. On the last night of my stay, the internet gave out. 3. Might be time to replace the sectional sofa, it is showing its wear. 4. Lastly, size: The description does say it is 540 or so square feet; to put that in perspective, that is about the size of a one bedroom hotel suite. The unit is equivalent (ever so slightly larger) than a Residence Inn suite. Also, it has 1 bathroom which is not very big (1 sink vanity, toilet, and shower) Although the description says it "can" sleep 3, you wouldn't really want to have 3 or more people in the unit. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this property for a family. You CAN do it, you can get by if you have one kid, but not recommended. All in all, if you are by yourself, or a couple, looking to stay in Aspen, this property is a good choice."

  • Great Property - Secluded yet accessible to everything

"We were looking to get away from the Dallas summer heat and relax in a secluded mountain setting. We found everything we were looking for, and much more, in this property. If you're looking for a comfortable, unpretentious, casual vacation rental property, that feels like a place you might have built for yourself, then this is the place for you. When we first walked in, we went straight to the deck and took in the view, not to mention the sound of the water rushing down the river just a few hundred yards from the house. Our, almost daily routine, was hiking down Hunter Creek Trail, ( 2 minutes from the front door), through a well marked series of trails, all the way to downtown, where we would meet up for lunch with others in our party, then would drive the 7 or 8 minutes back to the house. Then either go fly fishing, white water rafting, golfing........or just driving up to the Maroon Bells, looking for Moose, Bear, Elk, Deer, Fox, etc. We actually had a fox that hung out around the house that we would run into from time to time, as well as deer in the yard and an occasional bald eagle soaring overhead. Even though the house was fairly close to other houses, we still felt very secluded with the dense foliage surrounding the house. The house was very comfortable for the 4 of us, my wife and I in one room, and our son and daughter, each with their own rooms with separate bathrooms. The kitchen is well equipped, however we tend to eat out a lot. If we decide to visit Aspen again, we would definitely like to stay here. The owner was very responsive and helpful. I would recommend to anyone."
