  • Slice of Heaven

"The minute you walk into the main living area~ you can feel your heart rate (my blood pressure) go down. The view is spectacular! You have a front row seat of Mount Sopris. It was very tough to leave the house most days. Sitting outside on the covered porch with a constant breeze and a cup of coffee. Loved watching the rainstorms pass through. Everyday the view was different~ simply magnificent! We slept with our door open in the master suite each night. Our children (12, 9, and 3) took over the downstairs. There is so much room to spread out and TV's in each room~if needed. They loved the hottub and the second floor porch with the chair swing as much as we did. We saw lots of wildlife too! One of our favorite thing were the movie nights. All snuggled up on the sofa with the huge drop down screen and surround sound! Loved having the choice of Netflix and from Itunes. Having the kitchen right close to the living area was so nice for me as well. We love the little town of Basalt! Great food in that area! Our reason for staying in that area is to be close to Aspen and Glenwood Springs~ both being about 25-30 min drive. The home was stocked with toilet tissue, paper towels, dish soap, washing det, spices, coffee, sugar, soft towels! Lourie, responded right away when we had any questions about the home. We could text or call her and she was just a doll to work with! We came to her home for rest. And left two weeks later rested in our hearts and body. Thank you Lourie, for your kindness and opening your "Slice of Heaven" to our family. Much Love to you and we will return!"

  • Beautiful Home/Not a Mountain Hideaway

"You'll love this place, if you arrive with the right expectations. The house itself is well designed--it's full of natural light and has a lovely, private back patio--and fully appointed, and the owner, Laurel, is a pleasure to deal with. (Hobby chefs, esp., will like it--the kitchen has every tool you need to assemble a feast.) It's good for groups, too, in that every bedroom has its own bath. Basalt is centrally located within the valley that stretches from Glenwood Springs to Aspen, about halfway between the two. That gives easy access to Carbondale (funky, fun and hip) and Aspen ("Richie Rich" and a little stodgy but also the jump-off to the great hiking, biking and skiing). Basalt, which feels more like a place people live full-time than a vacation getaway, has a decent coffee house, several good restaurants--we really liked Tempranillo--and a great outdoors shop in Bristlecone Sports. (We rented standup paddleboards there, took them to Ruedi Reservoir and had a blast.) Understand, though, that the house isn't a mountain cabin or slope-side condo. It's the owner's primary residence, and it's located in a subdivision, not an aspen or evergreen grove. There are a few pleasant-enough trails nearby, and the Rio Grande bike path passes within about a quarter mile. (The path stretches from Glenwood Springs to Aspen.) But for serious hiking/skiing, you're facing a 30-45 minute drive, at least. Most of the great trails are near Aspen. The other thing to understand is that, because this is the owners' home, it's full of their stuff. They created enough room to accommodate us, clearing out closet space, for example. But I often felt like I was house-sitting not renting a vacation place. I worried the whole week about my dog or my friends' young son breaking something. In the end, those worries were baseless. The boy only broke a plastic ruler, and Laurel was v. understanding about it."

  • An awesome stay

"This carriage house is adorable! Well equipped and very clean, maintained, safe & so comfortable. An awesome location for all that we wanted to do. So glad we found this rental - it was so much better than a hotel. We visit our son in Colorado often and I will rent this Carriage house every time."

  • SNOW....SNOW... and more

"Thanks so much for leasing your home. We had a rough check-in only because our drive up from Denver in the snow was a bit tense. We found all the caretaker directions and after everyone was settled in with a few drinks and food it was smooth sailing. We all enjoyed the town and everything was just as you decribed it. We spent most of our days into evening in Snowmass Village. Thanks again for everything. Hope to see you the next time in the Snowmass/Aspen area."

Basalt Travel Tips

Experience the Joy of the Outdoors in Basalt Vacation Rentals

People love experiencing the great outdoors which is why camping is so popular. It's exhilarating to feel the sunlight as you smell the scent of the trees and hear the roaring waters nearby. It is such a great experience, that people put up with a lot of discomforts and inconveniences to enjoy it. Camping gives the benefit of all that nature offers but it's dirty and mucky. Sleeping outside is cold and numbs you to the bone. Food must be cooked over a campfire, which is fun maybe once, but the fire must be well tended to and food takes a long time to prepare over a fire which is exhausting when you've spent all day outside, perhaps even catching that night's dinner. What if you could experience all of the wonder of camping and living in the great outdoors, but in luxury accommodations? Basalt vacation rentals make that fantasy a reality!

Basalt Lodging is Luxurious

Colorado Rocky Mountains cabins have many options to choose from. You can book a luxurious lodge right on the river with many rooms so you can bring the whole family and stretch out. Imagine a warm fire in a gas powered fireplace so you can toast your feet and hands with a late night cup of cocoa. Rentals come in such a variety of options that you could book a property with a deck and a hot tub right on the river front, so you can fish in the day and relax with a drink in the hot tub as the water rushes by in the evening.

Vacation Rentals Are Ideal for Getaways

Basalt is so beautiful with lush trees and it becomes a snowy paradise in the winter. Booking a Basalt vacation rental is easy by going to VRBO.com. You will be able to find any amenity you want.
