"We booked the Lodge on Blue River as a base for a small family reunion and after reading all of the glowing reviews, I was worried that my expectations of the lodge would not be met once we checked into the property. However, this was far from the case, they were exceeded. In our group, we had a vast array of age ranges represented--grandparents, small children, and a handful of thirty-somethings. When planning the trip, I felt a lot of pressure as we had family flying in from Australia, DC, and Arizona and we wanted a house that would best give us a beautiful Colorado experience. This lodge did just that...and then some. I honestly can't speak highly enough about the warmth, comfort, and service we received during our stay.
While there were nine adults, and two small children, the house never once felt crowded--each couple had their own space to retire to, but the main living space brought everyone together for meals, games, and relaxation. Our daughter loved the small room under the stairs, and the games room saw some fierce competition. The outdoor space was stunning--we even had a moose saunter through the creek just behind the house. We loved the hot tubs and fire pits--and went for nature walks a few times a day.
We cooked almost all of our meals at the lodge and found the kitchen to have everything you would ever need (including spices/condiments). The two dishwashers, and the format of the kitchen were well though out and made cooking for large numbers a breeze. However, because of its proximity to Breck, it was a short and quick drive to pop into town for a Starbucks or a wander down main street.
On our last day at the Lodge, we lost power for a bit, and had an issue with the washing machine. We called the property managers who quickly helped us resolve the issue--however, I was most impressed that we also received a call from the owner not long after to ensure that the problem was fixed. Talk about caring and prompt service.
Overall, I can't speak highly enough about our stay--We are so thankful for the fantastic memories we made at the Lodge, from the snowmen we made, to the eight inches of snow we had on the last night, to the laughs we had around the large dining table. It truly was a trip of a lifetime in place that felt like a luxe home away from home."
