  • A great house for people to spread out

"We celebrated my in-laws' 75th birthdays here. There were between 10 and 12 people, depending on the night. This house is large and has a floorplan that provides lots of space to spread out. The little kids watched TV in the basement or jumped rope on the deck. The grownups gathered around the dinner table or out on the deck. The home is not overloaded with provisions or basic cooking supplies but we had all we needed. We loved the extra large granite countertop with bar chairs where we could cook, talk, and lay out snacks to eat. The TV was easy to operate and the internet was great, even with all of us using the Wi-Fi on our iPads and smart phones. The house provided easy access to the boat ramp just down the road at Shadow Mtn. Lake. There was enough room to park 4 cars. It's a 5 - 10 minute drive to the town of GL. Neighbors are nearby but the houses are set apart so you don't feel like you're in a neighborhood. The views are spectacular. You can see the lake from the front of the house and the mountains and sky from the back deck. We hope to rent this home again. I would have given it an excellent rating except for a few small issues that could be easily fixed: *The pillows were so flat and uncomfortable. The padding was non-existent. If we stayed here again we would all bring our own pillows. My father-in-law said the shower heads in the master bath had mineral buildup that caused some of the holes to be blocked. He said he danced around trying to get all wet :-) The pullout bed on one of the couches was in disrepair so we put the kids on mattresses on the floor. The trundle bed in the basement bedroom was comfortable but very squeaky. All things considered this is a great place for a big group."

  • Great Mountain Getaway

"Joe is an excellent host with clear communication. The house is large and beautiful, just like in the photos, with plenty of room and privacy. Location is perfect, with a great view of the lake. My wife and I loved it and would for sure recommend this home is you're looking for a beautiful, scenic, mountain getaway."

  • Fishing/Touring Expedition

"I had always heard about the beauty of Lake Granby, but now I can say first hand it was amazing. We spent the first day fishing and remainder of our trip exploring the national forest. The view from the cabin was outstanding, Bonnie was kind, helpful, and will rent from her anytime I am in the area. We went fishing with Steve the guide and caught our limit of trout for a great dinner that evening. Thanks again for such a great time Granby. We will be back."

  • A Perfect Get Away

"My family of four recently stayed at Anna’s Place (June 15-22, 2014) and had a wonderful time. The cabin, while rustic in nature was a place for us to enjoy each other as a family. The kitchen had everything we needed and if it didn’t, Steve, the owner living next door, did. We enjoyed the occasional movie night complete with fire (It was still chilly in June!) and of course s’mores and popcorn too. The availability of free wifi allowed us to check in when needed and the boys liked having it too. The cabin was clean and the perfect getaway. There were many trails in the area for hiking and the kayak and canoe were enjoyed by our older teenage boys (16 & 20). The boathouse roof was the perfect place to take in a good read and enjoy the sun and it also provided a challenge to us… a jump off of it into the water! The community of Grand Lake was friendly and eager to share. There are several ice cream shops within the city and we tried out three of them. All were great! -The boys even took the canoe one evening to get some! The local grocery stores were perfect for a quick run for any last minute items. There is some shopping downtown –Humphries is a must for the mom in the family. I went two different times. The fishermen will be able to purchase their license downtown but make sure you know your social security number (anyone 16 and older) as you will need it to get a license. The Arapahoe Forest and the National Park are just short drives away. I encourage you to purchase your vehicle pass early as it lasts seven days. We used ours to drive to Estes Park and take in a half day horseback ride (Sombrero Stables) complete with steak dinner, Chuck wagon style. Beautiful! We saw many elk, moose, mountain goats and big horn sheep while traveling. Another activity we enjoyed was white water rafting. We drove to Idaho Springs to do this and chose AVA. ~This was well worth the drive and we really had a lot of fun. Anna’s Place is a perfect little get away for the family. It’s quiet and tranquil setting(minus the beautiful sound of humming birds) allowed us to enjoy each other’s company yet it also provided some outdoor fun. We enjoyed our stay and getting to know Steve. He will take great care of you. We left with lots of memories made and we are still talking about it."
