  • Expedition Station was a great place to stay in River Run Village

"This was my first ski trip ever and I was tasked with selecting the lodging accommodations. Probably not the best assignment for a rookie, but thanks to Bob and Lori's great condo, I really picked a winner. The condo was clean, the PERFECT location, just the right size for 2 and had everything we needed. Did I mention it was the PERFECT location?!?! We were just a very short walk from the ski lift and an even shorter walk to the restaurants and other convenient things in River Run Village. Plus, the daily cookie hour at 4 PM was just a few steps outside at the ice rink. That was one of my favorite parts of the day - it's the little things in life. There was also a pool, hot tub, steam room and gym. If I have the opportunity to come back to Keystone I would definitely stay here again."

Keystone Travel Tips

Keystone, Colorado, is the home of the Keystone Resort that was originally constructed in the 1970s. There are three mountains in Keystone: Decum, North Peak and The Outback mountains, and the resort was built and planned to accommodate skiers and summer visitors.

Keystone Attractions

Visiting Keystone in the summer means you'll have access to many outdoor activities such as Adventure Point Tubing. Here visitors will get to ride down Keystone Mountain on tubes for kid-friendly and group adventures. Adventure Point Tubing is also a great spot to check out when you visit during the winter. More interested in the landscape on the way up the mountain? Scenic lift rides will take you up Colorado's Rocky Mountains to an elevation of approximately 11,640 feet. All you have to do it sit back and enjoy the ride as well as the breathtaking views.

There is a total of 36 holes at the Keystone Ranch Golf Course and The River Course at Keystone - so you have plenty of opportunities to work on your swing. The Ranch Golf Course is a classic mountain course full of lodgepole pines, sage meadows and a nine-acre lake. There are locker rooms and a fully-stocked golf shop in the clubhouse and a practice facility where you can warm up before you hit the green. The Sandwedge Shoppe at Keystone Ranch serves breakfast to-go, lunch and drinks. The River Course features elevation changes, bunkers, water hazards and a 194-foot elevation drop on hole 16. Take in views of Lake Dillon and snow-capped peaks. The River Course Grill serves breakfast and lunch as well as happy hour, while the golf shop sells apparel, accessories and equipment.

Mountain biking is a favorite summer past time in Keystone. Visitors can take a lift service to the top of the mountain before riding downhill through miles of trails and pathways. There are mountain biking clinics for those who want to try out the sport or take up a new hobby during their stay. In addition to biking clinics, you can rent a bike or boat if you want to head out for a cycling adventure, go on a paddle boat or take a canoeing excursion.

Head to Keystone Lake during the winter for ice skating and hockey. The five-acre lake is home to the largest Zamboni-maintained outdoor skating rink in North America and festively decorated during the holidays, complete with music. Ice skating is also an option at Dercum Square, as the area boasts a 7,200-square-foot ice rink in River Run. There's day and night skating and free ice time available for guests.
