  • Perfect Thanksgiving

"Our family - 7 adults and grandbaby - came to the Angler for Thanksgiving 2012, and what a wonderful choice. Steve was attentive and pleasant to deal with in every detail. We arrived to a warm fire and the best appointed kitchen and warmly decorated, comfortable cabin that you can tell was built with care. The valley itself is beautiful and provides easy access to whatever outdoor activities you choose. The weather during our stay was nice enough that we hiked and rode the ATV on trails that remained open. There were children sledding on the pond while I sipped my coffee on the deck. We made Thanksgiving dinner and played cards, Scrabble and created wonderful family memories in a gorgeous place. We watched the sun rise in absolute peace and the eagle soar across the front deck and settle in the pine tree by the pond. It is a special place."

  • Wonderful home!

"We had a mini family reunion at Medicine Bow in August 2010. It was a wonderful property that was comfortable and accommodating to our group of 10 people (three families). Lyman and Jan were gracious and kind hosts, always available for assistance or recommendations. Yet, they were careful to preserve our privacy, and we never saw them unless we were looking for them. The house sits in a beautiful meadow on the edge of the Routt National Forest. We saw deer several times in the area, including a buck and two does -- one with two fawns (still with spots!). In addition, we saw a beautiful fox just below the Medicine Bow driveway, and about ten antelope on one of our walks. With Jan's help, we found great trails for hiking. Fishing at nearby Hahn Lake was fabulous (we caught 7 trout during the trip -- and we are amateurs), and we also tried our hand at fly fishing in nearby Elk Creek. Steamboat Lake is ten minutes away, and we enjoyed a pontoon boat rental there one evening. Medicine Bow is 30 miles from downtown Steamboat. We visited one day to shop, but come here to enjoy the spectacular wilderness!"

  • Greenman

"The house was very comfortable and clean. We were able to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Kitchen was stocked with many common staples. Beds were comfortable but not as good as they could be. Some of the furnishings were old and need to be updated (back deck chair, front deck wicker chair). Windows in some of the rooms were hard to operate. Change these and it would be excellent. We would rent this house again and have made plans to return next year. Check out the museum in Hahn's Peak Village."
