  • Great cabin

"My mother and I spent four days at the cabin, along with my three girls (12, 10 and 6). We felt it was a great location - a quick drive into town, up into Rocky Mountain National Park, and to all sorts of great hiking (definitely go to Adam's Falls!). We saw two moose and a fox walked right up to us in the yard. As the owner notes in the description, the house is not on the lake and you do not have access to Columbine Lake. However, given the proximity to Grand Lake, where there is a public beach and boat rentals, we didn't find that to be a problem. The house is comfortable and well stocked."

  • Was Perfect!

"This house accommodated our big family and nobody felt cramped. Plenty of room to spread out and yet all be together in one place. It might be a little dated but clean and welcoming. Highly recommend this home."

  • Excellent downtown condo

"This condo was beautiful, well appointed, and perfectly located downtown and in a nice quiet area. Great access to the Yampa, restaurants, shopping, and only minutes from mountain. We'd stay here again."

  • Perfect Spot for Either an Active or Lazy Vacation, or Both!

"We spent a lovely week here in August. The area is fabulous, with one of Colorado's famed 14,000+ mountains just moments away, plus lots of shorter hikes nearby and a bike trail that goes for miles that runs out of Breckenridge. We overdid it, including a run up the mountain starting out at 7 am. But if you prefer to stay put, or even have to do some work, just set up the computer at the dining room table and take an occasional peek at Quandary Peak as the light changes through the day and clouds move in and out. You won't even mind working. Immaculately clean, well set up floor plan; very well stocked kitchen (unlike those odds and ends silver and weird sized pots you get at some rentals). In short, you will soon feel like this is your home in the mountains. Cannot recommend it more highly."

Northwest Travel Tips

Northwest Colorado Lodging for Expansive Western Adventures

Come enjoy the expansive western landscape of Northwest Colorado and experience the local history, cultures and wildlife. Northwest Colorado lodging is ideal for the avid hunter, explorer or even the family looking to experience the historical influences of past outlaws and homesteads.

Choose Northwest Colorado Lodging and Schedule a Big Game Hunt

Even if you’ve never been hunting before, you’ll love a weekend of capturing elk and deer near your mountain cabins in Colorado. Experience them in their natural habitat, and learn new skills in the process. Special hunts are also organized for kids only and first-timers to teach basic safety procedures that are so important. Send them off for a few days while the adults enjoy activities at the many resorts in Colorado, too.

Take a Wild Horse Tour near Mountain Cabins in Colorado

Experience the wild horses that live in the plains surrounding your Northwest Colorado lodging by scheduling a special tour the entire family will enjoy. Spend one day or several camping in the open lands near the mountain cabins in Colorado, and take plenty of photos to remember your adventure. Day tours, in 4x4s, designed to see the horses are also quite popular for a simple change of pace from the everyday resorts in Colorado.

Unique Resorts in Colorado Offer Access to Working Ranches

If you love to always be busy while on vacation, stay in Northwest Colorado lodging options that place you in the middle of a working dude ranch. Feed the horses and clean stalls, then round up the cattle with the other guests who are staying in mountain cabins in Colorado.

Family-style dinners can be included with some packages, so you’ll enjoy meeting with other guests. After a few days of hard work and fun learning experiences, you can return to your choice in resorts in Colorado for plenty of pampering and relaxation during the remainder of your vacation.
