WOW! This is a beautiful place that puts you close to all the great things Colorado has to offer!
"To say we were pleased with the cabin would be a huge understatement. This was a trip of a lifetime and we will be coming back very soon!
The cabin itself is very comfy and accommodating. It was perfect for just my wife and I but it would also be just as perfect if we had brought our two kids (12 and 7) and large dog with us. The cabin has everything you need to cook (bring your own consumables), play games (board games galore and crochet), watch classic movies or simply sitting on the porch and healing the mind body and soul.
The property is well shaded with a small yard in the front to hang out and prepare for your adventure packed days. It is attached to the main house so this may not be the place for a bunch of rowdy teens to have their party fueled getaway but it is a perfect place for a family, couple, writer, painter, day dreamer or adventure seeker.
The location made it perfect for us to do and see so much in our 5 days. I won't bore you with all majestic details of our trip but it is worth pointing out that we were able to see the Garden of the Gods, Royal Gorge by Train, Pikes Peak by Car, Cave of the Winds, Cripple Creek for some gambling and a tour of the mine, Maintou Springs for a hot spring spa treatment and St Mary's Glacier. These were all done by making day trips. We were able to wake up, have breakfast, pack some lunch, go do our touristy stuff and be back to make dinner and hang out for the evening. Even the longer drives seem to go so quick with all the wildlife and beauty so don't be afraid to plan that day trip to the National Sand Dunes (we didn't and that is the one thing we regret not doing).
A couple recommendations: Make sure to leave your windows open if you are going during the warmer months. The mountain air is refreshing and healing. Also, leave your bottle water in the car. The well water is delicious.
Thank you Lenni and Don for an amazing time (and for the flowers and card as well)!"

"This spacious and well-appointed three-level log home is the PERFECT place for getting away from it all and still having the pampered comforts of resort quality accommodations. We spent a week there between Christmas and New Year's, and enjoyed spectacular views of the Sawatch Range, close proximity to outdoor activities, and a comfortable retreat for our party of ten people. The adventurous of our group spent their days downhill and cross country skiing, while those that stayed closer to home enjoyed cozy fires, solitude, and the ever-changing views of Mt. Elbert and Twin Lakes. The kitchen has ample modern conveniences and supplies, the beds are comfortable, and there is plenty of room for large groups to simultaneously dine, bathe, and just hang out together without feeling cramped. We can't wait to come back in the summer and enjoy the wildflowers and the ample hiking opportunities close by. I don't think I've ever stayed anywhere that had such a complete package of comfort, natural beauty and accessibility to the outdoors. A MUST for any group who loves to be pampered and loves seclusion!"

"the house and view were very pretty. the only negative was the house was so cold, we couldn't get warm. summer would be a better time.
the house had everything we needed as far as amenities, easy walk to town, hot tub, grill."

"We stayed at the Pikes Peak Retreat during the Air Force Academy 2015 grad week. There were a couple of days that we had to be at the academy early, but other than that, we really didn't mind the commute (about an hour depending on traffic). It was so nice to return to this peaceful property after running around doing graduation stuff! The beds were all very comfortable, and the great room provided a great place for everyone to gather. The property was well maintained, and the kitchen had everything we needed. We went for lots of walks around the property, enjoyed the water wild life across the road, and my son did some mountain biking as well. We had a great week!"
