  • Best Christmas Ever!

"This place is everything it looks to be and more. We stayed here over the week of Christmas with all of my in-laws and it was perfect. Very family friendly. Tons of room to do cooking/baking and eating in the kitchen. Lots of activities to keep the kids entertained. Rooms were very spacious and accommodated the needed pack-n-plays without overcrowding the space. Bob and Karen were terrific, extremely responsive and a real pleasure to work with start to finish. The hot tub was AMAZING, and a universal favorite after sledding or ice skating :) The lodge came furnished with everything we could have wanted, including SUPER comfy bedding and Christmas decorations! The wood stove was more than sufficient for heating the house, and those who preferred to be extra toasty used the space heaters. It was the perfect gathering place for us- secluded and woodsy but just a few minutes from civilization. I really could not have asked for anything more. Watching the snow fall out the large windows while drinking a hot coco, playing games and talking with family was truly a dream come true. I would whole heartedly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great place to get away with family! Thanks a ton Bob and Karen!"

  • Family get together

"My wife and I, two sons and their spouses and four grand children just spent three days and nights at the Tomcat ranch guest house and had an extremely great time. We were greeted by the owners on arrival and treated as welcome guests. The fall colors were beautiful, the setting ideal and the fishing great. It is truly a wonderful place to stay and we intend to return next year."

  • February Weekend at Mountain Dream

"I agree with all the previous posters that Mountain Dream is pretty special. First of all Mike the owner is very responsive to rental questions via e-mail and phone. He does what he says he will do. Part of the charm of this place is its remoteness, so thankfully Mike supplies perfect turn by turn instructions. The elevation and distance from Cripple Creek's lights make the stars really pop at night as everyone previously has commented on. I can only add that now Mike has installed a land line phone with free long distance that he encourages visitors to use as cell phone coverage is spotty. I was also glad to see that he has a carbon monoxide detector with digital readout adjacent to the phone. I wish more VRBO homes includes this safety feature."

  • Saved our retreat!

"An unfortunate last-minute change with another property owner resulted in the very fortunate occurrence of me finding this wonderful property right in Manitou Springs where we wanted to stay! It was more than perfect for my women's retreat with 8 women! Plenty of room, huge kitchen table, cozy seating areas & comfy beds. The bedrooms were all decorated nicely with good linens. The 2nd floor bathrooms both have double sinks and a shower or bath so it was very adequate for our group. We decided not to put anyone on the 3rd floor since as the owner mentions, it is not that suitable for taller (or older) adults with the steep stairs and peaked, low ceilings. We did check it out and the beds are built into the sides of the walls which I imagine all kids would love! Plus there is a 3/4 (?) bath up there too! The backyard is spacious with a wonderful patio but we only got to have lunch outside once since the Oct weather didn’t cooperate. Many of us checked out the great views on both of the two 2nd floor balconies. We loved being able to walk down the hill to shop and hang out in Manitou all day Saturday and not have to drive, search and pay for parking. Sunday we enjoyed lounging at the residence in the “salon” after a leisurely breakfast. I would give this property 5 stars but there were some electrical outlets and lighting over the bathroom sinks that weren’t working plus a few other quirks which are probably just a result of the challenges of maintaining “this old house”. Nothing so bad we wouldn’t consider returning or highly recommend this property! We had an issue with the disposal side of the kitchen sink not draining and the owner had someone out first thing Sat morning to fix it. Fortunately it didn’t affect both sides of the sink so we weren’t hampered for our meal preparation/clean-up. After thinking I was going to have to cancel my women’s retreat and return everyone’s money at the last minute things worked out better than I could have imagined! We were all thrilled!"
