  • Beautiful Authentic log cabin experience

"If anyone wants a truely authentic log cabin built in an originally old mining town, this is the place. We stay here for a week over the 4th of July about 4-5 years ago. I neglected to leave a review at that time even though we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. For a true Colorado mountain getaway, this is the place. The cabin/ house was originally built by the owners father, who was a mail carrier in Salida and he built this by hand working on it during the weekends in the 1950s for a vacation home for the family. It has so much character, peace and beauty. We loved sitting on the deck to watch the sunset. The altitude is a higher level so if you are not use to it drink plenty of water. Thank for a wonderful stay and sorry about the delay in review. Our two miniature schnauzers loved watching the deer that we would see every day."

  • we love this area. so much to and seven days is not enough time to do it all. we love it.

"pros: great town location. right above the best coffee house in town. easy in and out parking. easy walk to the center of town. less than fifty yards to any type of restraunt food you could ask for with a 5 star steak next door with a great bar. the apartment Looked new with vaulted celings great furniture and decor and a great bed for sleepingand a large closet for keeping everything hung up and out of the way. it was nice to have a washer and dryer in the apt. you can't beat the price for this location. cons: no central air con. two very small wondow units and noise and windows didn,t open. no tv cable dvd yes and wifi was limited and por. the coffee shope had great wifi. over all it an experance doing a week with out the news, tv and Internet. we made it and can't wait to do it again. we had a very relaxing time, thank you for a great vacation."

  • packing up this morning

"Wow. We are just finishing our stay in this fabulous "cabin". Everyone is dragging their feet, trying to prolong our departure. There were 4 couples on this trip, and we were very comfortable. Everything was clean and we'll maintained. The beds were comfortable, though some felt the beds were too soft. It didn't matter. We still slept like the dead every night. The fireplace and kitchen table were our gathering places, as well as the well proportioned deck. Though the weather was beautiful, we couldn't resist lighting the gas fireplace each night. Kitchen and restroom amenities were abundant. Frankly if they didn't have it, we didn't need it. The view looks out over San Isabel National park. Listening to the cattle bawling gently in the pasture was another favorite activity. The TV room is fine, but very few of us spent any time in front of the tube. There is a computer and wireless access in the house, which was sufficient for our needs. If you struggle to live without your phone, you will experience withdrawals, but it was actually nice to unplug for a while. Why get "away" if you are tethered to a phone. I am looking to schedule our trip for next year. All of us agreed on this 5 star cabin as our new favorite destination."

  • CAN'T WAIT TO RETURN FOR ANOTHER FUN VACATION!

"Have repeatedly been to this gorgeous vacation home - summer, fall, and spring! Will continue to go back and relax...the home, the décor, the surroundings with the beautiful creek and mountains, the walking along Bunny Trail, the hiking, the neighbors, the little nearly towns of Salida and Buena Vista, not to mention Colorado Springs, the skiing for the kids, and just reading and eating and having fun!!! Clean, spacious, inviting - the screened in porch is fabulous! Highly recommend it for anyone thinking of having a great time!"
