  • June 2014

"My family of 9 adults spent 5 days at this lodge and loved it. The lodge is spacious, well equipped and exactly as presented. We loved the gurgling stream behind the home, the huge deck with the rocking chairs - and all the hummingbirds. Many activities nearby - white water rafting, horseback riding, hiking, etc. It was great to find such a nice house in a beautiful setting that would accommodate all of us. I wouldn't hesitate to return."

  • PERFECT FOR TEN DAYS

"My wife and I, along with our 12 year old daughter stayed in the loft for ten days this summer. Loved it! Great view. Very well laid out. Great access to the town of BV and the Ark River. The mgt team was easy to work with and to accommodate our needs!"

  • Beautiful Authentic log cabin experience

"If anyone wants a truely authentic log cabin built in an originally old mining town, this is the place. We stay here for a week over the 4th of July about 4-5 years ago. I neglected to leave a review at that time even though we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. For a true Colorado mountain getaway, this is the place. The cabin/ house was originally built by the owners father, who was a mail carrier in Salida and he built this by hand working on it during the weekends in the 1950s for a vacation home for the family. It has so much character, peace and beauty. We loved sitting on the deck to watch the sunset. The altitude is a higher level so if you are not use to it drink plenty of water. Thank for a wonderful stay and sorry about the delay in review. Our two miniature schnauzers loved watching the deer that we would see every day."

  • Clean and comfortable, but a bit noisy

"Unit has been well maintained as it still appears freshly remodeled. Roomy, clean, and comfortable. A recliner has been added since the photos were taken. A coffee shop is conveniently located at the opposite end of the building. The location is also convenient, although there was quite a bit of road noise in the early evenings, which made it a bit challenging to listen to DVDs. The Internet access worked well in the early evenings, but was unreliable later on. There are two rental units, each with an outside entrance on the second floor of the building. We reserved the other unit (as the photos show, the two units are quite different), but assumed that this was our unit since, when we arrived, only the door to this unit had a lock box in place as described in the rental agreement. The lock box combination that we had been given did not work, however, and I then found that the rental agreement, which I had printed and brought along, did not list a phone number to call if there was a problem. We knocked on the door of the other unit and fortunately a friend of the owner was staying there and had the owner's phone number, which we called to obtain the correct lock box combination. Given our experience accessing the unit, I would recommend, as other reviewers have before, that the two units be separately labeled on the outside entrances (A and B, for example), and that the rental agreement include a phone number that can be used if problems occur. I would also remind potential renters that, depending on your existing insurance/savings, you may not need the damage insurance that is offered by default when you rent the unit online."
