"We had a family gathering over the weekend and the home was perfect for our needs! We felt very comfortable and at home. We found The Cabin at Trout Creek to be clean, comfortable, and well stocked with supplies. The location was great with beauty all around. Thanks for sharing your your amazing mountain retreat with us!"

"My wife and I wanted to find a place away from the beaten path but still close to the amenities of civilization and definitely found it at TomCat Ranch. The home met all our expectations and it was reassuring to my wife who is not an outdoor type to be able to see the highway in the valley, knowing if a problem came up we would not be far from getting assistance. The view is spectacular, and our stay was so relaxing...the week went by too fast. Mike, the owner was very helpful, driving me around his property and sharing stories about the ranch. He even checked in with us one night to make sure the furnace was operating on one of the colder nights. The owners live just up the road and are available to address any problems or questions we had. We watched the lunar eclipse one night and thoroughly enjoyed having an outside fire(ample firewood provided!)...and the nighttime sky is gorgeous.
For the hiker and hunter, the property is surrounded on two sides by national forest and access is easy. Buena Vista is about 8 miles away if you need groceries and the property is about midway between Salida and Leadville, so there are plenty of things to do during the day and return in the evening to unwind.
And I have to mention the exodus of birds that swept through the property one morning. There seemed to be an endless stream of Stellar Jays, Pine Grosbeaks and other birds that headed down in to the valley. Whether this was a one time thing or is a common event, unfortunately we had to leave the next day and were unable to see a repeat performance.
So, if you have not guessed yet, we highly recommend a stay at TomCat Ranch."

"We stayed at the Cozy Burro for three days on a "working retreat." This was our second time here, and it definitely will not be our last! The space is perfect for us - we can meet indoors at the dining table, downstairs in the large "den," on the enclosed back porch, or outdoors! All the rooms are spacious and allow for our group of eight to spread out while working together. When we need a break, we can go for a lovely mountain walk by simply stepping outdoors and walking! The kitchen is wonderfully large and well-equipped, so that cooking large meals is easy. Alternatively, the closeness to the town allows for eating out without taking up too much of our precious time together at the cabin. This burro is a true gem in the mountains!"
