  • Peaceful Perfectly Describes This Cabin

"We shared our weekend away with another family, for a total of 4 adults and 2 children. Relaxing is the word I would use to describe our experience. There was plenty of room for lounging on the sectional sofa, plus the other couch on the other side of the room. The kids played upstairs, which was nice to have that separate space for them and for us to have some intentional conversation. The dining room table is tucked away separately from where the kids were sleeping earlier in the evening so that we could play cards, laugh and not wake the kids. The kitchen had every amenity for our meals. One advantage is that there were not any immediate distractions right outside the door such as in the larger resort area. We walked in the woods and discovered a labyrinth in the midst of interesting, old trees. The kids loved playing pirate ship on the fallen trees. We enjoyed being "unplugged" without wifi to avoid the usual distractions. We also enjoyed having the TV and movies to watch. We look forward to our next visit! We love Fairplay and Alma, and Salida is one of our favorite places in the state. The best part of this location is not having to utilize I70. I was imagining what a great place this would be for a girls get away because of how conducive it would be for hanging out, quality time and comfort. I liked how you can have a quiet, isolated time OR you can head over to Breckenridge, Salida or Buena Vista too. Summer will be our next visit, as we can explore the little historic village SouthPark and enjoy one of the local fesivals."

  • Great cabin, great location

"This cabin is conveniently located if your plans are to do day trips around the central CO area. It is comfortable, clean, and easily the best stocked VRBO we have rented. The fireplace was definitely a nice feature in late October, it didn't take long to heat up the whole place when we returned every evening. The kitchen was stocked with all the little extras - spices etc, which can cost a lot of money and is not easy to tote while flying so that was much appreciated. They even provided a fresh can of coffee. Sounds like a small thing but arriving late and getting settled in, it was just something we didn't have to figure out! The kitchen also had a wonderful assortment of dishes and cookware. All in good shape and clean! The table is large and a great place for family games in the evening. There is a ping pong table and an air hockey game in the basement, too. The deck is large and in good shape. We enjoyed wrapping up in blankets and sitting out there after dark to count the stars. The daytime view was nice as well, and we enjoyed our coffee out there in the mornings. We visited Pikes Peak, Manitou Springs and Garden of the Gods one day, Breckenridge, Frisco & Dillon one day, and Buena Vista the last day. THAT place is very close and spectacular. Next trip - more time there. We soaked in the outside hot springs watching the snow. It was too late in the year for white water rafting and biking so we did some sight seeing and came back to visit Mt Sherman and other mountains. The old town of Fairplay was also already closed down for the season but some of the shops were still open. There is a large assortment of brochures and area - relevant reading material, which we found to be very useful. There is a nice grocery store in town conveniently about 2 miles away which was well stocked and competitive with prices. If you plan to travel to Mt Sherman and other nearby ranges I recommend an AWD or 4 wheel drive SUV or truck - the roads are not all paved. They are definitely passable but not maintained this time of year. We enjoyed driving the roads near the cabin and saw much wildlife and beautiful scenery. We saw a bobcat, elk, deer, and 2 moose all within a mile or 2. Making arrangements was also easy. The owner was prompt in responding and great to work with. All instructions and communication was handled via email. Everything was just as he said it would be so it was a super easy rental agreement. Thanks for sharing your cabin with my family."

  • Ultimate Getaway

"I chose this property as a home base for two weeks of fishing, hiking, and real estate shopping. It fulfilled all my needs perfectly. The accommodations were excellent. The host was available when needed but afforded all the privacy desired. I was pleased with the remote cabin feeling while at the same time feeling totally safe. The adjacent Buffalo Peaks Wilderness area is a real jewel. I'll definitely book again."

  • Ski Vacation of a lifetime!

"What a wonderful property!! Has everything and more. Very beautiful and private. Out of all the vrbo homes we have stayed at, this one is by far the best! Randy was a pleasure to do business with and hope we get the chance to come back sooner than later. We had a blast skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling....all within minuets of the property. I can't say enough good things about this property! Overall just a great expierence :-). Thanks again Randy for everything!"
