"We loved our stay at Aspen Lake House! We just had a discussion and can't think of anything significant we would change about the place. The place was meticulously clean and very well equipped. This isn't a "cabin" by my standards, it's a very nicely appointed home. It has way more room than our family of 4 needed. In fact there's easily room for twice our number or more. The wrap-around porch is an amazing place to have coffee and take in the stunning views. Be prepared for cool mornings.
Show up with everything you need for meals as the closest source for groceries is Cripple Creek (with a limited supply), or the Walmart an hour away in Woodland Park. While Victor is a wonderful old mining town, don't expect much. If you're into a lot of structured activities, this place may not suit you. If you like enjoying nature on your own terms, it's perfect.
It is also important to know that getting there requires 5-6 miles of well-maintained gravel road, then a few hundred feet of fairly steep private drive to the house. It's nowhere near "Jeep-only" terrain, but it helps if you've driven mountain roads a bit. Also the gate lock can be deceiving, look for the "line" to align the supplied code.
If you're up for the "remoteness", I would certainly recommend this place. Enjoy, and safe travels!"

"We stayed at the Cozy Burro for three days on a "working retreat." This was our second time here, and it definitely will not be our last! The space is perfect for us - we can meet indoors at the dining table, downstairs in the large "den," on the enclosed back porch, or outdoors! All the rooms are spacious and allow for our group of eight to spread out while working together. When we need a break, we can go for a lovely mountain walk by simply stepping outdoors and walking! The kitchen is wonderfully large and well-equipped, so that cooking large meals is easy. Alternatively, the closeness to the town allows for eating out without taking up too much of our precious time together at the cabin. This burro is a true gem in the mountains!"

"This property was very clean and has spectacular views from the deck. We spent every evening watching the sun set over the 14,000 foot mountains. The house was very spacious, functional, and close to many activities for our family such as the fish hatchery, alpaca farms, the river, and hiking. The "North Backbone" trail is a short walk from the house, and we hiked into Salida for lunch (about 4 miles one way on nice marked trails).
The owners checked in to be sure we had everything we needed. Overall a great stayand a great house!"

"Great little cottage for the 3 of us and our dog, close to town and not too far from some great hiking trails. The Moonstone's living area was a pleasant place to relax and unwind, and the beds upstairs were very comfortable.
The kitchen provided everything we needed to do some light cooking. We woke up each morning to our dog alerting us to the group of deer who came to the creek for a drink. What a beautiful and serene sight.
The bathroom though a bit on the small side, was appointed with great linens, and was immaculate as was the rest of the cottage.
A perfect place for a short retreat."
