  • Lovely weekend getaway

"Our group of 3 women stayed here for a quick weekend getaway. It was a great location for exploring Manitou and taking a 1/2 day at Broadmoor spa. The unit was clean & comfortable. The danish in the fridge came in handy, as we weren't all ready for breakfast at the same time. Karen's suggestions for meals at Adam's & Mona Lisa were helpful. We would add Swirl to the list. I left an item in the unit and Karen promptly send it back, free of charge. Overall, staying at this unit was easy & convenient - just what we needed!"

  • Saved our retreat!

"An unfortunate last-minute change with another property owner resulted in the very fortunate occurrence of me finding this wonderful property right in Manitou Springs where we wanted to stay! It was more than perfect for my women's retreat with 8 women! Plenty of room, huge kitchen table, cozy seating areas & comfy beds. The bedrooms were all decorated nicely with good linens. The 2nd floor bathrooms both have double sinks and a shower or bath so it was very adequate for our group. We decided not to put anyone on the 3rd floor since as the owner mentions, it is not that suitable for taller (or older) adults with the steep stairs and peaked, low ceilings. We did check it out and the beds are built into the sides of the walls which I imagine all kids would love! Plus there is a 3/4 (?) bath up there too! The backyard is spacious with a wonderful patio but we only got to have lunch outside once since the Oct weather didn’t cooperate. Many of us checked out the great views on both of the two 2nd floor balconies. We loved being able to walk down the hill to shop and hang out in Manitou all day Saturday and not have to drive, search and pay for parking. Sunday we enjoyed lounging at the residence in the “salon” after a leisurely breakfast. I would give this property 5 stars but there were some electrical outlets and lighting over the bathroom sinks that weren’t working plus a few other quirks which are probably just a result of the challenges of maintaining “this old house”. Nothing so bad we wouldn’t consider returning or highly recommend this property! We had an issue with the disposal side of the kitchen sink not draining and the owner had someone out first thing Sat morning to fix it. Fortunately it didn’t affect both sides of the sink so we weren’t hampered for our meal preparation/clean-up. After thinking I was going to have to cancel my women’s retreat and return everyone’s money at the last minute things worked out better than I could have imagined! We were all thrilled!"

  • We'll be back. Breakfast was delicious AND safe for celiacs.

"We stayed in the upper level of the carriage house for four days while visiting family. It was delightful to have our own space. When the family dropped us off, their comment was, "Wow. We could just live here!" We agree. Everything we could have needed was available in this darling, fully-appointed apartment. We appreciated the breakfast options (grab-n-go, continental, or full breakfast) depending on our activities for the day. As you've probably read in other reviews, the breakfasts are delicious and elegantly served. And very importantly to us, since my husband has celiac disease, Gwen and her staff handled the need for being gluten free and even avoiding cross-contamination without batting an eye. We also needed to avoid garlic and onions. This was no problem either. We thank Gwen and her staff for taking such good care of us."

  • Walton's Mountain Cottage

"We had a beautiful and peaceful stay. The Cottage was quite comfortable and toasty. It served as a great home base for us to explore the area. Steep snowy mountain road is not for the faint of heart but worth it for the view. My kids especially enjoyed the resident horses and donkeys. Thanks for letting us stay!"
