  • Nice place for a short stay.

"This is nice place for a short stay, as it is quite small. However, there is everything you need to be comfortable, except for the lighting which was a very dim in the dinning room and kitchen."

  • Saved our retreat!

"An unfortunate last-minute change with another property owner resulted in the very fortunate occurrence of me finding this wonderful property right in Manitou Springs where we wanted to stay! It was more than perfect for my women's retreat with 8 women! Plenty of room, huge kitchen table, cozy seating areas & comfy beds. The bedrooms were all decorated nicely with good linens. The 2nd floor bathrooms both have double sinks and a shower or bath so it was very adequate for our group. We decided not to put anyone on the 3rd floor since as the owner mentions, it is not that suitable for taller (or older) adults with the steep stairs and peaked, low ceilings. We did check it out and the beds are built into the sides of the walls which I imagine all kids would love! Plus there is a 3/4 (?) bath up there too! The backyard is spacious with a wonderful patio but we only got to have lunch outside once since the Oct weather didn’t cooperate. Many of us checked out the great views on both of the two 2nd floor balconies. We loved being able to walk down the hill to shop and hang out in Manitou all day Saturday and not have to drive, search and pay for parking. Sunday we enjoyed lounging at the residence in the “salon” after a leisurely breakfast. I would give this property 5 stars but there were some electrical outlets and lighting over the bathroom sinks that weren’t working plus a few other quirks which are probably just a result of the challenges of maintaining “this old house”. Nothing so bad we wouldn’t consider returning or highly recommend this property! We had an issue with the disposal side of the kitchen sink not draining and the owner had someone out first thing Sat morning to fix it. Fortunately it didn’t affect both sides of the sink so we weren’t hampered for our meal preparation/clean-up. After thinking I was going to have to cancel my women’s retreat and return everyone’s money at the last minute things worked out better than I could have imagined! We were all thrilled!"

  • Great for my family

"My family rented this house for my niece's wedding. It is very close to Pike's Peak (the wedding) and to their reception center at Garden of the Gods. It is also not in the city which is perfect for my family. The neighbors are friendly. The house is very spacious; we ate together, but could separate when we wanted privacy. The house is two story so there are stairs. And there are steps leading from the street to the house, but when one is in the mountains some things are to be expected. The upstairs bathroom is not very private, maybe a latch on the door would help, but there are two other bathrooms, just be patient and wait your turn. The owners were available during our entire stay and when I emailed with a question, got a response the next morning. The house seems to be well maintained and is quite clean. It has a country or outdoor smell which is also to be expected when trees are growing so close to the house and the weather is such that we could leave the inside door open most of the time we were there. We had a buck deer watching us one morning through the kitchen window. This house is not in a desolate area, but is certainly not in the city. We did what the owners suggested, communicated with them every couple of days, and had a very relaxing and enjoyable time as a family. If we all needed to be in Colorado Springs again as a family, we would stay in this house."
