  • Nice family rental with awesome views of the mountains

"This is a very good rental for a family and/or a larger group of people. There were 6 of us during our stay (me, wife, 3 kids and mother-in-law) and it was plenty big. In fact, we could have had a lot more people stay with us. There are three bedrooms, 2 full baths and one half bath. In addition to the three bedrooms, there is a walkout basement and a loft that both have pull out sofa beds. The master bedroom had a queen sized bed; another bedroom had a full (or queen sized bed) and that last bedroom had two twin beds. There is both a hot tub and a sauna at the home. We used both. The views of the mountains from the hottub were amazing. The home is also fully stocked with lots of towels, sheets, pots & pans, silverware, a coffee pot, games, a DVD player, DirecTV satellite, and one of the most important things for us - WIFI. There are two different gas grills to use. The walkout basement is pretty much like a 4th bedroom (my teenage daughter "called it" as soon as we walked in the home). There are also built-in heaters in at least two of the bathrooms. We didn't need those . . . but I can see that being a nice option if someone stayed in the home during colder times of the year. There is a nice bar area in which to sit and there is a big table with seating for 10-12. I only have a couple of "knocks" on the property. First, the floors weren't swept or mopped when we got there. Part of this may have been attributed to us getting there an hour or so early. But it seemed like the maid was leaving when we got there. Not sure. To be fair, though, the property manager did let us in the home before the "check in" time in the contract. and the sheets & pillows are a little dated. The other thing: the sheets & pillows are a little dated. Again, neither of these was a big deal for us. We would stay there again. We also felt that the rental cost was reasonable compared to similar rentals and that it was a good value for the money spent."

  • Great Location within 2 short blocks of the river and historic downtown Salida.

"The house was great. We had 3 couples in town to enjoy the 4 Wheeling in the Salida area for a week. Very well equipped kitchen but we were so close to wonderful restaurants and coffee shops we did almost no cooking. Nice yard and plenty of parking for our Jeeps and tow vehicles during the summer. Everyone was delighted to see deer walking through the yard and neighborhood."

  • We'll be back!

"chose this rental because of its location; we'll be back because it is so fantastic! I almost hate to write this review because I'm afraid it will always be booked, but... Kathy and Phil have gone out of their way to create a really comfortable, welcoming (thanks for the wine!), and well-supplied home away from home, great for short or extended stays. It's close to everything, but as a previous reviewer noted, far enough away too. Comfortable beds, clean and well-maintained property, and a quiet location. We went to the Saturday farmers market at the nearby park, listened to music in downtown Salida, had great dinners at Amica's, The Fritz and Currents, ordered pizza in from Moonlight one night, and spent a very lovely evening on the patio at River's Edge. We appreciated our stay here and since we have family in Salida, will definitely be back for some extended vacations."

  • WOW!

"If I could give more than 5 stars I would! We has a wonderful time relaxing and sight seeing. Family from close to the area came up and we enjoyed the lovely deck areas with a BBQ and the beautiful grassy area was loved by the dogs. Will hope to be back here again"

Salida Travel Tips

Salida Vacation Rentals in the Heart of Southwest Colorado

Located in the heart of southwest Colorado, Salida is well known for its mountains, Western culture, and lots of outdoor activities and attractions—all of which can be enjoyed with the convenience of your Salida rental found on VRBO.com. Salida is said to be located in the "Heart of the Rockies," right on the Upper Arkansas River Valley and features 12 mountain peaks more than 14,000 feet in elevation. You won't want to forget your camera for these vistas!

Many influences combined to make up the history of Salida and Chaffee County including being originally settled by the Ute tribe. The area also experienced an influx of many other groups including farmers and ranchers, miners, expansionists, and explorers. Each of these groups made a distinct mark that is evident throughout the valley.

Salida Is the Banana Belt of Colorado

Imagine enjoying what is known as the "Banana Belt" from your lovely Salida lodging property. The area received this name because harsh storms are tempered by surrounding mountains. But just minutes away skiers and snowboards and enjoy the exceptional winter conditions at Monarch Mountain. In the summer enjoy rafting, hiking, biking, and a visit to Mesa Verde National Park.
