  • Fabulous getaway

"This house is an amazing place to stay. Our week there was so enjoyable, and the accommodations were more than comfortable - they felt luxurious. It's a fabulous home - the log architecture was so beautiful, the kitchen was well-stocked with almost anything you'd need to cook with, the view from the deck was outstanding, and Warm Springs Ranch, where the home was located, is a wonderful development with a variety of scenery in and of itself. A short walk takes you down into the meadow below and the National Forest trail along the edge of the meadow. A short walk the other direction takes you to the edge of an aspen forest. The home itself provided many amenities. If you want to watch TV or movies, the flat screen TV was great. There are a variety of games and books and a Wii in the loft, and of course the hot tub and sauna, which we didn't even use. If you want to sit quietly and read, you can do it on the deck with a beautiful mountain view, weather permitting, or you can sit in the very comfortable leather chair or couch in the main level living room. Again, weather permitting, you can have meals on the deck with a view like few others. We had breakfast out there a few days, and a lunch and a dinner there. The house was very clean and well-maintained, and our (all email) interactions with the owner were quick and helpful. We love this area, as you are a short (hour or so) drive from a variety of towns and scenery, a very short (10-15 minutes) drive into Fairplay to eat or shop, but if you never drove anywhere, you'd still have a wonderful stay at this house and in the area surrounding it within walking distance. All in all, the pictures don't do it justice, the description in this listing is very accurate, and you can't go wrong staying here."

  • ENJOYED OUR STAY HERE

"My husband and I stayed here with our 16 year old grandaughter and her friend. It worked out very well for us. I have stayed in lots of cabins/houses and I must say this one is better stocked than any I have stayed in. I forgot to take my crockpot but was pleasantly surprised to find one there. It is so beautifully landscaped and we had a visit from a deer while sitting on the patio. It was very clean and beds were comfortable. The only probably I had was connecting to wifi(I have us cellular)other phones with us could connect.Even though it is right in town all the trees give it a secluded feel. The owner is a nice person to deal with.We would like to stay there again if we were in the area."

  • The Cozy Cottage Was Tremendous

"My family spent 5 nights in this cottage in Leadville and we had the best vacation - ever. The cottage is clean and roomy enough for 6 of us to be very comfortable. The kitchen was great, we had several family meals together. The laundry was great, we were able to minimize the clothing we needed to pack. The bathroom, shower - all good. Grill on the back patio - - how can you go wrong? We used the Mineral Belt Trail (2 blocks from the cottage) many times, walked downtown for a few meals and general sightseeing. We launched our other adventures from this very convenient location as well; Turquoise Lake is 6 miles down the road, Mt. Elbert trailhead is 10 miles down the road, BV and whitewater rafting was 30 miles down the road. The neighbors were friendly, the view of the continental divide is fabulous, you can see the two highest peaks in the state from the back patio - - I could go on. Leadville gives off a cool vibe that I found attractive - - it has all the views and activities that a Vail and Aspen would have without the pretension. I saw a bumper sticker that said it all: "Leadville - We're Here Because We're Not All There." If you've got Wall Street money and want to stay at the InterContinental, that is awesome, do that. If you're a regular guy like me who adheres to the "....do as the Romans do..." mantra, rent this house."

  • USAFA graduation 2014

"This place was perfect for all the local tourist attractions, yet far enough away for rest and relaxation. The fishing was remarkable, we caught as many trout as you could possibly eat. The main kitchen was very user friendly and well equipped. The downstairs kitchen was nice for the guest staying down there to keep food and drinks nearby. Plenty of hot water for the party of 20 that we had. Abundant bedding and room for all to stretch out and relax. Ages 3 to 67, we all had a great time. Oh, don't forget the wildlife, the deer grazing in the yard was a joy for all to see, we even saw a bald eagle fishing in the lake! We are already talking about coming back..."
