  • Winter Surprise!!!

"What a grand time we had.... we surprised our family with a winter holiday ... The little girls were in awe of the loft and claimed it as their own...the cabin was very clean and welcoming... the fireplace added an extra dose of cozy .. the location so close to skiing was such a treat ski hard and in less than ten minutes you are back at the cabin.... a wonderful retreat..."

  • The Cozy Cottage Was Tremendous

"My family spent 5 nights in this cottage in Leadville and we had the best vacation - ever. The cottage is clean and roomy enough for 6 of us to be very comfortable. The kitchen was great, we had several family meals together. The laundry was great, we were able to minimize the clothing we needed to pack. The bathroom, shower - all good. Grill on the back patio - - how can you go wrong? We used the Mineral Belt Trail (2 blocks from the cottage) many times, walked downtown for a few meals and general sightseeing. We launched our other adventures from this very convenient location as well; Turquoise Lake is 6 miles down the road, Mt. Elbert trailhead is 10 miles down the road, BV and whitewater rafting was 30 miles down the road. The neighbors were friendly, the view of the continental divide is fabulous, you can see the two highest peaks in the state from the back patio - - I could go on. Leadville gives off a cool vibe that I found attractive - - it has all the views and activities that a Vail and Aspen would have without the pretension. I saw a bumper sticker that said it all: "Leadville - We're Here Because We're Not All There." If you've got Wall Street money and want to stay at the InterContinental, that is awesome, do that. If you're a regular guy like me who adheres to the "....do as the Romans do..." mantra, rent this house."

  • A piece of Heaven!!!

"My husband and I have returned for the second time! Absolutely perfect once again! We can't say enough about how gorgeous the property is and how wonderful the cabins are! We are planning our third trip there and can't wait to go back! It truly feels like home away from home! The owners keep the cabins immaculate and are there always if you need anything! Great people! Great times!"

  • An UNBEATABLE stay!

"My wife, myself, and our two kids (aged 6 and 10) stayed at this cabin for 4 nights in late March, and there wasn’t a single thing about the entire experience we would change. Kim, the cabin manager, was incredibly helpful, flexible and responsive, and the cabin itself exceeded our expectations in every way. The wide-wide view from the cabin across the San Luis Valley is simply astonishing. It includes the sand dunes, the Sangre di Cristos, and stretches an incredible 180 miles from the Collegiate Peaks to the north to the mountains of the San Juan to the south. But it wasn’t just the view – the cabin itself would have made a worthy base even without it. The beds were comfortable – we all slept well. The nights were peacefully quiet; songbirds announced each dawn. The kitchen was superbly stocked with all the utensils we needed to cook every meal, and the living area was far larger, better furnished and filled with light and space than we expected from the photos. And then there were all the little details: the cleanliness of the place upon arrival, the great stock of firewood, the children’s and other books, the cabin’s decorations… they all added to the pleasure of being there and increased the great feeling of comfort. We didn’t turn on the TV or music center once. My 10-year old, who typically loves his hour of TV a day, said: “I could live without a TV after this!” To me, that says everything. With the cabin as our (hard-to-leave) base we explored the sand dunes, the Zappata Canyon, and the Colorado Gator center, and the combination of these adventures and the perfect base made our stay one of the most fun and fulfilling of short vacations we’ve ever enjoyed. I hesitated in writing this review… I’d hate to play a part in making the cabin so popular it becomes harder to book because of increased demand… but ultimately I had to comment honestly. If we can, we will definitely return."
