"Excellent relaxing getaway. Very quiet, with only an occasional plane flyover. Love the large 3 sided porch. If you enjoy gaming, Cripple Creek is only about 30 minutes away. If your thing is exploring by vehicle there are numerous easy to drive roads in the area."Guest: chuck Date of Stay: September 2014 Review Submitted: October 8, 2014View listing
"Our entire family enjoyed this remarkable vacation home, which proved spacious and comfortable for our week in Salida. We had bonfires on the back porch, games of pool, dinner parties in the large eating area, and times of relaxing as we considered the mountain view from the living room. All of the rooms were generous in size, the beds oh, so comfortable, and the kitchen stocked with the little extras that were needed for meals. There was more to do in Salida than we could squeeze in during our week's visit, and while a day at the Great Sand Dunes was awesome, just sitting on the river's edge watching kayakers roll and tumble in the rapids was very entertaining. The house was clean and quiet, the location was accessible and convenient, the owner accommodating and responsive, and the value was excellent. I would absolutely recommend this rental and hope to have the opportunity to stay again in the future."Guest: Amy L. Date of Stay: August 2014 Review Submitted: August 14, 2014View listing
"Really pleased with the location, surroundings, home, hot tub, and dog run. Very relaxing. The owner made an extra effort to make our anniversary weekend even more special!!"Guest: Shadow Date of Stay: September 2014 Review Submitted: September 26, 2014View listing
"This was our annual family gathering and was voted the best yet. The house is totally as described and pictured and although we rely heavily on paper plates, there were double the needed dishes and silverware as well as everything needed for cooking from cookie sheets to a crock pot. Each family unit felt it had privacy and the children (young and older) loved the basement and options for sleeping. Alex was very responsive when we had questions and it was nice to see family photos. The views and wildflowers were magnificent and driving up to the end of the road and walking out into the meadow covered in wildflowers was so pleasant. South Park City in Fairplay was a fun history lesson for all. We enjoyed side trips to Leadville and Breckenridge and zip lining and white water rafting. It was great!!!"Guest: JEan H. South Central Travel Tips
Southern Colorado Vacation Rentals Offer Beauty in the Mountains
Southern Colorado is an area that’s full of rugged high desert plains and a collection of up to 14,000-foot peaks, rivers that gush with whitewater rapids during the spring, beautiful red-rock outcroppings, and towering sand dunes that are dwarfed by the mountain range set behind them. South Central Colorado was first explored in 1806, some three years after the U.S. made the Louisiana Purchase. A man named Zebulon Pike led the first scouting expedition to what is now known as Pikes Peak but he never actually climbed the mountain that was eventually named after him.
