  • Hidaway Cabin in the Woods

"My husband and I had a wonderful week long stay in Bear Creek. The cabin was the perfect size and I personally loved the layout. It had all the modern amenities...including a game cabinet= bonus!...with the feeling of staying in a cabin retreat. We were shocked at how conveniently located it was to all the actives this region has to offer. The owners obviously care that each and every guest have a memorable experience. Oh and a shout out to the heated bathroom floors...in cooler Colorado November they sure did come in handy! We are already planning out how to come back!"

  • USAFA Graduation Week

"We had an excellent week at Manitou Villa celebrating our daughter's graduation from USAFA. We had 16 people there for the week and there was plenty of room for everyone. We also hosted a party for about 50 people and it was wonderful. It was so much better than a hotel for us to all enjoy being together and for the party. The views from this home are spectacular and the folks at the guard house coming into the property were nice and accomodating."

  • Lovely home in a serene location

"From the time we arrived our family thoroughly enjoyed this spacious, clean and well maintained home. The owners were accessible, considerate and trustworthy before during and after our 4 night stay; and without any reservation we highly recommend you consider staying at Connie and Ben's home."

  • Perfect Spot for a Weekend Getaway

"My girlfriend and I stayed at Brad and Laura's cabin with my two dogs over the weekend and had a wonderful time. Our goal was to have a quiet and relaxing weekend away and this was perfect. The cabin was clean, cozy, and had everything we needed. The hot tub was excellent for star gazing at night. My dogs enjoyed watching the birds and getting to take walks around the area, which has some amazing views of the mountains. We even saw a few deer each morning! The cabin is far enough away from everything to feel secluded, but about 10 minutes from some restaurants and shops. We picked up food one night from McGinty's Wood Oven Pub and would highly recommend it! Otherwise we did all our cooking at home, which worked perfectly because the kitchen is well stocked with dishes and cooking supplies. Thank you so much for a wonderful weekend! We'd hope to be back again!"

South Central Travel Tips

Southern Colorado Vacation Rentals Offer Beauty in the Mountains

Southern Colorado is an area that’s full of rugged high desert plains and a collection of up to 14,000-foot peaks, rivers that gush with whitewater rapids during the spring, beautiful red-rock outcroppings, and towering sand dunes that are dwarfed by the mountain range set behind them. South Central Colorado was first explored in 1806, some three years after the U.S. made the Louisiana Purchase. A man named Zebulon Pike led the first scouting expedition to what is now known as Pikes Peak but he never actually climbed the mountain that was eventually named after him.

Southern Colorado is well worth a few days of exploration on your vacation due to the vast wonderland of activities and adventures that you and the entire family can embark upon. Southern Colorado vacation rentals and Southern Colorado vacation homes will place you in the heart of the back country. Here, you can set off on a whitewater rafting journey, shop in the historical towns and cities, bike, hike, mountain climb and much more. Imagine spending your vacation in a Lake George cabin deep in the woods near a fishing stream. This can make for a perfectly relaxing vacation, especially since you are never too far from civilization when you need it.

Southern Colorado vacation rentals are complete with all of the amenities needed for your trip. You can enjoy a luxury cabin complete with as many bedrooms as you choose. Tons to do and see Near Southern Colorado Vacation Homes

Besides the beautiful mountains in the southern Colorado region, there is a ring of smaller cities that offer many alluring attractions. For instance, at the foot of Pikes Peak, Colorado Springs vacation rentals offer visitors a chance to step back in time to when the Gold Rush was booming after the discovery of gold in the local spring water. The Gold Rush of the 19th century helped to shape the city’s history and modernity, and today, this has given visitors that opportunity to access the numerous trails and embrace the history of this part of the Rockies.

To the west of the Rockies lies the Royal Gorge and the Florissant Fossil Beds. These two magnificent places are worth a day trip on any vacation. The Royal Gorge offers a chanced to take a literal walk through the ages as this canyon is 1,250 feet deep and 50 feet wide. Summer Fun and Winter Bliss at Southern Colorado Vacation Homes

Summer is always a great time to plan a vacation to Colorado. With over 300 days of annual sunshine, the summer months are some of the best in the west. It’s never too hot here as the highs are usually in the mid to low 80s. This makes for a very comfortable summer vacation, as many travelers try to avoid extremely high temperatures in the summertime.

Winter can be great fun for a vacation in the Rockies as well. You can hit the slopes and enjoy almost any snow-related activities that you can think of. Nearly 300 inches of snow fall here every year bring skiers, snowboarders and winter sports fanatics from all over the globe. You can expect to see the first snowfall around September, although it usually snows somewhere in the state every month, except for August (usually). Rainfall for the state brings 16.5 inches each year.

Getting to Southern Colorado Lodging

Most of the time when you fly to Colorado, you will land at Denver International Airport (also known as DIA), and from here, you can rent a car to continue the rest of your journey to Southern Colorado.

There are several highways in the Southern Colorado region that will take you into any of the surrounding cities in the area. However, one of the major highways used in the southernmost part of Colorado is I-25. This highway runs through Las Animas County which is the largest county in the state. I-25 runs straight through almost all of the other cities along the I-25 Corridor and other highways branch out from it.
