  • Best location in Durango

"The house is about 3 miles south of town, right on the southern point of the bike trail that runs through town, and very close to trail heads for mountain biking. Road biking access also exceptional. House is cozy, well-maintained, spotless, and well stocked w/ all necessities. Right on the Animas River with a big yard to run around in between it and the house. Built fires in the fire pit and looked at the stars almost every night. Great BBQ grill. Best for 5 or less people, 4 easy. We had a great stay - thanks"

  • Lovely, Cozy Cabin

"This lovely cabin is the perfect place for a family vacation! It is roomy and cozy with everything you could ever want. The listing description is accurate, the appearance and amenities are better than the pictures show, and the cabin is clean and maintained very well. There is plenty of room for reading, playing games, or hanging out on the patio or deck. The property manager is extremely helpful and available when needed. We would definitely recommend this cabin to friends and family! The cabin is 20 miles from Durango, and it is a beautiful drive. We went into Durango many times and enjoyed the scenery with every trip. We visited Durango, Mesa Verde, Silverton, and four lakes in the area. The only negative was that Electra Lake was closed for repair of some pipes, but that just made us explore the area to find the other pretty lakes around. We found many places to hike at Haviland Lake and Spud Lake. All were beautiful and fun! The hot tub was an extra bonus that was enjoyed by all each evening. We all wanted to stay for another week - we will be back! Loved it!!!!"

  • Another wonderful stay

"My husband and I have made multiple visits to the HD Ranch. We have stayed in summer, winter, and fall. We just don't go to Durango unless we can get the accommodations at the HD Ranch. The owner, Francie, always makes us feel like family, and we just can't get enough of the animals, canine, equine and feline, that call HD Ranch home. In addition, other personnel around the ranch are very forthcoming and friendly, too, whether they are telling us about giving riding lessons, feeding horses or taking care of the place. When Francie sends a Thank You note after our stay, I really feel that it is we who should be sending her such a note. At HD Ranch, one can enjoy fabulous views and beautiful horses. It is close enough to Durango (14 miles/20 minutes) to do anything you want to do there, but enjoys a wonderful peacefulness and isolation that is hard to find so close to a popular town. The cabin is very comfortable and can accommodate two couples or a couple with several kids quite comfortably. The setting is serene; we have stayed at many VRBOs and this is our favorite, bar none. We are looking forward to our next stay at the HD Ranch . . . as a matter of fact, I think I'll look at the availability calendar and make some reservations right now."

  • Oasis in the hills

"Two families stayed here with kids ages 10 to 14. The bunk room was a perfect hangout (ping pong was a big hit with the Dads as well)! They kids loved visiting Teddy's fort too. Spacious and comfortable, this was an ideal place for all of us. The teens had their own rooms although they stayed in the bunk room with the other 2 on some nights. The big kids (parents) enjoyed the peace and quiet of the evenings nestled in the forest. The new hammock we had brought along was perfect! Everything at the property was well maintained, super clean with plenty of extra sheets and towels. Great to be in Durango in the summer for a change, with plenty to do. A perfect place to hang out and relax (or be active)!"

Private Homes Travel Tips

After you visit once, it's a place that you will want to visit time and time again. Southwest Colorado offers an abundance of outdoor activities regardless of the season. You'll truly appreciate your surroundings at Durango vacation homes. Whether you are drawn by the mountains, the clear blue lakes and streams, or the majestic forests, everywhere you look there is something spectacular to see.

Durango Vacation Homes are Surrounded by Beauty

Durango lodging is nestled up in the San Juan Mountain Range, which features the amazing Hermosa Cliffs. The dramatic lines of the cliffs glisten with snow in the winter and invite hikers and rock climbers in the spring. While the mountains provide the backdrop for the landscape, the lakes and streams are just as spectacular. Besides being beautiful, these bodies of water are also great for fishing. A favorite spot for a picnic lunch is along the banks of Electra Lake.

Top Attractions Are Just a Short Drive Away

The Durango vacation homes are centrally located in this resort area and make an excellent base for your visit to southwest Colorado. The famous Purgatory ski area is only about 10 miles from this Durango lodging, and there you can engage in a number of winter activities. In addition to alpine skiing for all levels, there is also snowboarding, tubing, snow biking and sleigh rides. New snow is never a concern in Purgatory because this region gets over 20 feet of snow a year.

Enjoy all the Comforts of Home

The main reason you should choose Durango vacation rentals is the privacy you will receive. You will be able to appreciate the serenity of the area while staying in your own private vacation home instead of some busy tourist resort. If you really want to get away from it all, this is the place to be.
