  • We didn't want to leave

"We spent a couple of nights at the Hound Dog (HD) Ranch and really didn't want to leave. Francie, the owner, is so nice and we fell in love with the 4 hound dogs living there as well. Our two labradors had an amazing vacation playing with their new friends in the completely fenced, dog safe environment. Francie was so gracious with us, children, dogs and all. Our kids are 12 and 13, which can be a hard to please age. They were in love at first site with the open space, horses, hounds, hot tub and the cabin. The kids just kept thanking us. It was such a nice break. The cabin is lovely, very cozy and homey. I love having the kitchen and all of the comforts of home in such a gorgeous location. We were about 20 minutes from the center of Durango and about 35 minutes from Mesa Verde and we're well entertained. The best part of the vacation was having the kids be so excited to get back to the cabin for more family time."

  • Beautiful Lake House Retreat

"Our family stayed at this incredible home on Lake Purgatory during mid October. The leaves in the area were absolutely ablaze with color, and the view of the lake and the fall colors from the huge windows that run the length of the house was unforgettable. The home was very spacious and comfortable. It had a huge kitchen, bar and eating area. It was equipped with everything we needed to do some serious cooking, and it was a treat to work in because of the great view. The living room had a huge river rock fireplace that also could be enjoyed from the dining area. It was a truly a gathering place. The boys both wanted to sleep in the loft, which was super fun and shared the view of the lake. We also really enjoyed the hot tub. It was so beautiful to be out on the deck in the hot tub, right on the lake. The use of the boats and fishing equipment really put this trip over the top for us too. We enjoyed getting out on the water in both the paddle boats and row boats. We fished from the boats and explored the length of Lake Purgatory. We even caught some really big brook trout. What an experience! We all agreed that we'd never had a more fun and relaxing getaway. It was private, quiet, and incredibly special. We can't wait to stay here again."

  • Great house in a great location!

"This house is adorable! It was perfect for our visit for a family wedding. It's very cozy and comfortable. The bathroom and bedrooms are nicely decorated and comfortable and the kitchen felt very homey. The whole place was super pet friendly. There were a limited number of towels but free access to the washer, so we made it work. I would recommend a few hooks in the front bedroom to make up for the lack of a closet. There was a little neighborhood noise, but nothing that bothered us or our young children. We will definitely stay here again. Great place!"

Durango Travel Tips

Vacation in the Mountains at Durango Vacation Homes

Durango is a beautiful mountain resort in Colorado, and the best way to enjoy your vacation is by staying in one of the Durango vacation homes.

Vacation rentals provide you with a home away from home where you can enjoy amenities such as a fully equipped kitchen, private bedrooms, family areas, decks and more.

When choosing your Durango lodging, look beyond the normal hotels. Why stay in a small impersonal hotel room when you can enjoy the space and comfort of a vacation home? Hotels can be noisy with neighbors slamming doors, running down the hallways and blasting the volume on their television. Your hopes for a relaxing vacation can be ruined in an instant.

All the Comforts of Home

Rent a privately owned Durango lodging, and you'll be transported to the best of both worlds—a gorgeous mountain resort while relaxing in a rental with all the comforts of home.

Each of the Durango vacation rentals has its own particular charm, amenities and accommodations that spell comfort and privacy. In some of the rentals you'll find enough private rooms and sleeping quarters such as lofts to fit the entire family or group of friends. Many of the rentals have washers and dryers, cable or satellite television, decks and patios with barbecues and gorgeous lake or mountain views.

If you're looking for luxury, you can find a rental with a hot tub, fireplace, gourmet kitchen and luxurious bedding.

Activities Galore in Durango

You won't get bored when you stay in Durango, and your vacation home gives you easy access to all the area's activities. In the winter you can ski, snowmobile, take horse-drawn sleigh rides and snowboard. In the summer, Vallecito Lake offers swimming and boating. Or just sit on the deck of your Durango vacation home and enjoy the surrounding nature.
