  • Senior Couple

"Our three-day stay at the Black Canyon Cabin was the perfect beginning to a break from the noise and hustle of our city life. Having grown up on farms and recently moved from a rural acreage, we had the best of it all - the wide-open valley vistas, intoxicating aroma of newly-mown hay, absolute quiet at night (except for the rutting elk and singing coyotes), beautiful dark skies for star-gazing - all without any of the personal hard work of maintaining a ranch. The hosts were readily available when we had questions or wanted sightseeing suggestions. Our privacy was respected at all times even with maintenance on the cabin being planned and scheduled. The cabin itself was comfortable, well-supplied, and nicely decorated with Western decor. It instantly felt like home. Can't say enough about this area of Colorado with the beautiful Black Canyon of the Gunnison park, delightful shops in Montrose, and while we were there the once-in-a-lifetime fall colors of the aspens. Plenty of opportunities for day trips away from the cabin. Three days didn't begin to be long enough. We would definitely stay again and recommend it to our family and friends. Thank you for getting our vacation off to a perfect beginning."

  • Very Comfortable and Clean

"This home was perfect for our big group. The home is so large we all felt like there was plenty of space. The furnishings are very comfortable and modern, the kitchen has everything you need. The bedrooms are spacious with large bathrooms and the linens are plush. All common areas have convenient half baths. This home is well cared for and very clean. The view of the golf course from the deck and patio are superb. The owners are very nice and they have helpful information in the home to help you find your way around if you are new to the area. We would definitely recommend this home!"

  • Weekend Stay

"We had a great time at this Montrose ranch. We used both the converted barn and a room off the main house. The room has a private entrance. Everything was immaculately clean, functioning and decorated in an over-the-top western style. The hosts were helpful and did not interfere with our own plans. We visited Telluride, Ouray and the surrounding mountains with ease. The ranch is easy to find and only a short distance from the center of Montrose, where we easily found supplies even late at night. We made dinner using the oven one night and the grill the other, and had no troubles. There is a dishwasher and plenty of dishes/pots. If the owners wanted to put in a dining/poker table instead of an air hockey set, we think that would be an admirable change. That's the only suggestion for improvement that we could think of."
