Refreshing and relaxing
"The home is wonderful and the deck is a great feature. The sound of the river was relaxing. The river walk is across the river. To get to it you need to walk a short distance on the road, but it's easy. If you go south you can cross over the bridge & go a little further to the park for about 2.5 miles round trip. Going north, you'll go by the hot springs and hit the shops in town.
The house is a nice size with everything you'll need. She has it nicely decorated, it's clean and she was easy to work with. It would be nice to have a king bed in the master, but there really isn't room. The spare had the twins pulled together to make a king, but it was short. The garage was great to have so you can easily drop your dirty clothes. We had some rain when we went so we had dirt from bike riding and hiking.
I did a 13-mile bike ride by taking CR 200 (dirt road) which you can get to from the house. There weren't many cars, which I appreciated. The views were amazing. You can go further, but we had other things taking place that day.
We hiked the Falls Creek Falls/Fourmile Falls. You get two falls in one hike and it's well worth it. Beautiful!
It was hunting season when we went, and my husband was a bit leery of being in the wilderness. We did purchase the orange vests. Hey, we survived!
Restaurants: we're on vacation, so I didn't cook. We go to the 4+ starred Yelp & Trip Advisor recommendations. We liked Farrago's (great pizza) and macaroon desserts. Thai Chilie, Marconi's, Alley House and Pagosa Baking Co. were great too. We went to the Peak Deli, it's just a deli, nothing special, but the people are great. Chavolos, was good, but not our favorite.
We would recommend this home and area to anyone."

"Wow! We had the best time in your log cabin & we can't thank you enough! Everything stocked to perfection and just so warm & cozy! We loved the fireplace at night while playing board games as a family, amazing quality time without the city distractions. Our children loved their upstairs bedrooms and we all love the great room downstairs. The jacuzzi was one of our highlights, along with the SJ RIVER, as our backdrop, as we soaked our worries and ski aches away! Each night we would come home from Wolf Creek and start the fireplace, cook, play games, and sometimes watch movies with the grand finale in the Jacuzzi! We loved your neighborhood and especially the location! Minutes to WC and town! We met a few neighbors as walking the neighborhood and everyone was so friendly! Thanks again and we 100% we be back next year, if not this summer, for a different kind of adventure! Amazing home and vacation! We loved our stay at your home!!!!"

First-time VRBO user and Colorado tourist - Best family vacation ever!
"Spent a week at Alpine Haven and no one wanted to leave! Great location - private, peaceful, wooded neighborhood made us feel secluded, yet located only a few minutes to town, the hot springs and endless fishing holes (if you wanna fish, be sure and hit Echo Lake). Loved The Springs. We have a 9yo and were very pleased at how "kid-friendly" they were (there's also an "18+ only" area...complete with gas-log fire pits and really comfy lounge chairs). We loved that the town had a laid-back vibe and was NOT overrun with tourists (like ourselves lol).
Also drove up Wolf Creek Pass (hubby's a closet C.W. McCall fan) to the Continental Divide...about 20 minutes away. If you head up there, be sure and stop in South Fork at The Old Firehouse Grill. THE BEST food! http://www.southforkoldfirehouse.com/our-grill.html
Neighbors were friendly and helpful, too (nice older gentleman stopped and chatted with us...gave us the down-low on good fishing spots and area wildlife). Everything was very clean and nicely decorated....and the two decks were perfect for relaxing. Pam was extra quick to respond to our questions... And the house was well-stocked with everything you need (tons of towels, sheets, dishes, even cooking spices, tea and coffee). And, very quick return of our deposit. I have no complaints and would book there again in a heartbeat. Husband's been looking at Pagosa real estate - and dreaming of retirement - since we got home. All around, just perfect! Thanks so much!"
