"The location and setting was perfect. In the mountains, lots of wildlife(deer, elk, grouse, etc.) and phenomenal views right out the window. The owners were very hospitable, we were even treated to vegetables from the garden. Very secluded and in easy range of hiking trails. We have stayed in alot of vrbo's and this was our favorite"

  • Great house

"The house was perfect for our family of 6. We spent as much time as possible on the deck. The view from the deck is a must experience. The house was well stocked. I would recommend this house to anyone that likes to get away from towns. Its about a 20 min drive to Ridgway. However, you could drive faster and miss all the wildlife. The owner is a pleasure to with work with. Rental process is very simple. Thank you for allowing us to stay!"

  • Peace and quiet and AMAZING VIEW !!!!

"We stayed at the Live Wire Ranch during the Super Moon. What a wonderful place to see the night sky. I would love to come back for a meteor shower. Unbelievably quiet. My family (5 adults) stayed there for a week. We hiked every morning and went for a day trip most afternoons. We made sure to return to the ranch for the sunset every night because the view of the Sneffels Range is sooo beautiful, especially at sunset. We saw lots of wildlife. Mule Deer were in the front pasture every evening. Lots of rabbits, chipmunks and squirrels. We even saw a badger. The coyotes made a joyful sound in the evenings. Hummingbirds zipped around the house and filled the forests out back. There were 45 cows grazing in the pasture. The ranch house was simple, but roomy and clean. The kitchen was well equipped and had an excellent blender. We cooked most of our meals here and only missed a potato peeler and a cheese grater (you can fit these in your suitcase). The surrounding communities have excellent farmer's markets, so we made good use of those. The corn and peaches were coming in when we were there as well as lots of other fruits and vegetables. The property has old ranch equipment, a fallen down barn and an old decrepit ranch house. Great subjects for photography or paintings. I did plein air painting while I was there and am now painting from my photographs. Our day trips included riding the Gondola from Mountain Village to Telluride and back Eating lunch at Oak in Telluride..BBQ, beer and wonderful fried okra, The Hot Springs pool in Ouray, The Western Hotel in Ouray for trout dinner, Driving over the Red Mountain Pass, Brunch at Kate's in Ridgway (Our favorite place to eat...everything was wonderful, but the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes with Blueberries and a side of bacon were to die for.)Ice Cream and an Art Festival in Ridgway. The Dennis Weaver Memorial north of Ridgway is also worth seeing. The Lake Ridway State Park is nearby also for hiking, boating or swimming. My 84 year old Mother was with us. She gets around with the help of a walker and she was able to enjoy all of these activities, except the hikes. The owner of the Live Wire is very responsive and we got our deposit returned with no hitches. We highly recommend staying here and hope to come back some time."

Ridgway Travel Tips

Escape to the San Jan Skyway With Ridgway Vacation Rentals

Find yourself immersed in the natural beauty of this area by booking Ridgway vacation rentals. In 1891, Robert M. Ridgway established this town in Colorado as a railhead center for the Rio Grande Southern. Located in the Uncompahgre Valley at an altitude of just under 7,000 feet, the town became a crossroad for travel and commerce, servicing the surrounding areas of Ouray and Telluride. Today the town remains the northern gateway to the scenic San Juan Skyway, an All-American Road offering sweeping vistas and scenery.

Visit Movie History With Ridgway Lodging

If you want to experience Old West charm, Ridgway is the place to go. It offers conveniences and activities like jeeping, golfing, and rafting, but it has maintained a slower pace than other areas in the state. The movies "True Grit" and "How the West Was Won" were filmed in and around Ridgway Park. The town hosts a memorial park for Emmy award-winning actor William Dennis Weaver who appeared in "Gunsmoke," NBC's "McCloud," and Steven Spielberg's "Duel."

Take Advantage of Southwest Colorado Cabins

Vacation rentals in Ridgway can offer you more than a hotel. Many come with full kitchens and you can pick the size space you need. Having more than one room works great for friends or families traveling together. Pack a picnic lunch, grab a blanket, and head to Ridgway Town Park. You'll find plenty of shade under the 100-year-old cottonwoods.

Find Your Niche in Ridgway

Ridgway offers a variety of activities as well as fine dining and shopping. Use Ridgway vacation rentals as your base for day-trips to places like Mesa Verde National Park or Unaweep Canyon. Visit the public library to see a permanent history display highlighting the area's rich ranching culture. Ridgway offers museums, art shows, and antique stores. Take a mine tour or enjoy a day of fishing.
