  • Perfect family ski get-a-away!

"We spent a long President's Day weekend in Telluride and LOVED this condo. It was perfect for our two families. The loft upstairs was ideal for our little ones and gave the adults some time to themselves! This is such a great location, too! It was so nice to be able to pop our skis on first thing in the morning and not hassle with the shuttle--not to mention being able ski to the back door after a long day on the mountain! The kids went sledding every afternoon after the lifts were closed and had a blast. I can't speak highly enough about our stay. Such a little gem of a place. We will definitely stay again!"

  • Best spot for a family ski vacation

"We just returned from an amazing ski vacation, and the condo could not have been better for us. It is located 2 min. away from the bottom of the Coonskin lift (a trivial walk even with ski boots). This is not the main gondola - it's at the edge of town, and has an especially nice secluded atmosphere in the mornings/evenings. We really liked the ~15 min scenic walk into town for dinner and back (although a couple of times when the kids were too tired, we took advantage of the free 'Galloping Goose' shuttle, which runs every 10 minutes and drops you off right at the condo). The unit directly faces the mountain. It is not a 'fancy' condo, but the living area is especially nicely laid out and furnished, with a fireplace and an oversized window with a fantastic view of the slopes. The unit also had everything we needed, including a garage, laundry, well equipped kitchen, hair dryer, etc. A specialty is the loft, which easily sleeps two children (though the ladder to climb up is steep - it's an attraction for maybe 6+ year olds, but probably too steep for younger kids). Some of the reviews criticized the outdoor hot tub, but we found it especially nice - it is in a small secluded area at the side of the building, with a fantastic view of the mountain, and was kept very clean and hot - we used it every day after skiing, and had it to ourselves four out of the five days. The only possible critique I can say is that the unit has some tight spaces (i.e. the entrance and the bathrooms). This did not bother us at all, but if you like a giant bathroom with two sinks, you may be disappointed. Also, Anna-Marie, the host, was very helpful and efficient. I highly recommend this unit, especially for a family with kids old enough to enjoy the loft."

  • Wonderful Summer Vacation in a Wonderful Home!

"We had an amazing time staying in the Spruce Mesa Cabin. It was perfect for our large family with young kids and several teenagers, my wife and I. The home is beautiful and comfortable, and the beds were comfortable. It was very well maintained, and the listing doesn't really do the beautiful home justice....we thought it was simply excellent. All the needed utensils and necessities were available. The hot tub was perfect after a beautiful hike or after rafting the Animas river. The location is perfect, half way between Durango and Silverton, and only a few minutes from Durango Mountain Resort. The home has a book with wonderful activity and dining selections/possibilities, which was VERY helpful when we were deciding which hikes to take with our family. The home was not truly secluded, but felt as if it were, nestled in gorgeous pine and fir trees. Each morning we woke up, it smelled like Christmas outside! So lovely. The process of booking the Spruce Mesa Cabin was easy and seamless. The manager was very prompt in responding to all of our communications, and she provided excellent info on how to get to the cabin, what to expect, all the policies, and a very helpful guide on things to do in the Durango area. She called us the day after we arrived to make sure we had gotten in OK, and she checked to make sure everything was OK with the cabin as well. She was as excellent and made the whole process very easy. We definitely plan on coming back to Durango, and when we do, we will try to stay here again! Please note, getting to the cabin during the spring/summer/fall is easy for any type automobile. But you will need a 4wd vehicle to get to the Spurce Mesa Cabin while snow is on the ground. A wonderful place to stay in a wonderful part of Colorado!"
