  • Fantastic Kent Retreat!

"Our family with two kids ages 6 and 9 were lucky enough to rent the beautiful Hatch Pond cottage for June and July. It is an easy drive or train ride from NYC and a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the beauty of Kent and Litchfield county. Highlights include kayaking on Hatch pond, playing ping pong in the boathouse, relaxing on the beautiful grounds near the house and near the pond, and enjoying the bounty of amazing vegetables and herbs from the garden! The owner is very caring, friendly and simply a wonderful person and host. The house is very comfortable and charming with lots of nooks and crannies and cozy places to read and relax. We highly recommend Hatch Pond!"

  • Great time in Connecticut!

"We needed a house last minute, and when we called George he answered his phone and got us all set up. Then we loved it! George took care of our firewood (even though it was early in the season - us southerners weren't used to the chill) and made sure we had everything we needed. I ended up leaving a couple of items at the house, and he promptly mailed them to me. The house has no food items - so think about that when planning to cook - but the kitchen is neat and clean and well stocked with dishes/pots/etc. The town is beautiful - lots of lovely homes, a fun Main Street for shopping, etc. We loved the remodel on the farm house! So well done! We enjoyed easy day drives to Yale/New Haven and New York City."

  • Relaxing Long Weekend

"My wife and I stayed for a little bit less than a week during the Labor Day weekend. The house is bigger than it looks on the pictures. It is well maintained and had everything we needed for our stay. The host, Mary, is very nice and accommodating. The shore is a short walk away and if you don't want go to the beach, the house has a sizable backyard where you can just relax in one of the beach chairs. There is a seafood store with a great selection of fresh fish and seafood around the corner, a super market a five minute drive away and a couple of restaurants across the street. Things to do include local attractions such as Thimble Islands cruise, drive on the scenic I-146 and visiting local historic villages such as Essex. We enjoyed our stay very much and felt quite relaxed at the end. I hope we could stay longer."

  • An Outdoor Dream!

"We stayed at Fallen Fence last August for a week for our anniversary. We have 4 children so we are always looking for space. This house has it and more. There is a TV room, large living room. The attic loft was the favorite hangout for our teens. I love to cook and this well stocked kitchen, with it's commercial range, plenty of counter space and a large fridge was just want we needed. There are two patios, one off the kitchen that is very convenient for barbecuing. The other overlooks the grounds and pool. With a hand painted terra cotta tuscan table that seats 10 it's the perfect place for lunch (it has an automatic awning for sunny days) or for a lovely dinner setting. One of the things I loved the most about this house is that there were 5 different places on the property where you can have breakfast, lunch, formal dinner, cocktail party. It's really set up very well for entertaining. Lot's of linens, glassware, cutlery and dinnerware and serving plates. The place, simply put, is gorgeous. I'm not much of an outdoors or pool person but the rest of my family is and they really enjoyed the pool, hiking and boating in the pond. It's just a wonderful home!"
