  • Enjoyed Our Stay

"Family vacation at this home was great; very quiet neighborhood, plenty of room for all of us (7 adults and 3 children)! Tons of bath towels! There were 2 TVs in the main living space which was great for the children to watch their shows while the adults watched theirs. A couple of the bedrooms also had tvs. Yard was big enough for the children to play in and with the use of lawn chairs and our beach chairs, we made a "fence" so the children and their ball did not go over the "cliff". Met a friendly neighbor who gave us insight into restaurants and beach areas. This house is not on what I would call a beach, there is no sand and although you could get into the water from the shore, it was difficult for the children (4 and younger) who ended up with many scratches, bruises and bleeding knees. Husband and children loved going out in the kayak! We all loved spending time sitting on the porch overlooking the Sound. It would be helpful if there was a book of directions to restaurants and/or menus, directions to local grocery areas and local beaches. Would also be helpful if you had a cabinet or two available for guests to put their food and kitchen items in. Fran was very easy to work with and very accommodating! Thanks Fran!"

  • Exceeded My Expectations

"If you're looking for a wonderful peaceful natural location to get away from the maddening world, this is it! I spent almost a week here the first week of July and didn't want to leave. The owners Bill and Joanna are welcoming gracious hosts and gave me great advice about restaurants and nearby activities. I enjoyed the Black Rabbit Grill so much I was in there almost every night for dinner. I had been looking at the photos and talking to the owner for quite awhile before deciding to book it and I am so glad I did! The internet photos are great, but the actual feel of the place once you arrive and settle in is so much better. I highly recommend it and I will certainly go back!"

  • Love the house, perfect for a large group

"This is the second time we've stayed here and it's a great house. Our group of 12 adults and 4 kids in the main house plus another couple in the newly refurbished studio apartment in the barn all had plenty of room. The kitchen is well set up and the dining room comfortably seats a group of 15. The living room is comfortable and flows well so people in the kitchen are still connected to the group in the living room. We are planning to go back next year!"

  • Perfect marsh hideaway minutes from town!

"Loved my time in the Zen Cottage. Beautiful sunrise and sunset views on the deck of the marsh to enjoy breakfast and dinner by. Comfortable beds, excellent for a great nights rest after having an active day of hiking the nearby trails in Branford. The kitchen is nicely stocked with everything you need to make a nice dinner. Luckily for me the osprey next just off in the marsh was home to a family of four, with two young ones ready to fledge in September. I was also greeted by a very friendly cat who ate breakfast and dinner with me on the back deck a number of times during my stay. I could not have asked for a more perfect place to stay for a vacation! I hope to return in the future! Having lived in New Haven for a number of years, the Branford area is a perfect retreat. Close enough to hop over to the New Haven green for any of the free summer concerts and a nice dinner. Visitors to the area I also recommend heading over to the Stony Creek section of Branford. You can take a nice walk along the Trolley Trail to see the Thimble Islands in the distance, fiddler crabs, egrets and osprey. In the small town of Stony Creek you can grab breakfast, lunch or dinner and sit outside and gaze at the boats coming in from the Thimbles. Tours of the Thimbles leave frequently every hour."
