"We were so happy to have discovered this beautiful gem in the CT countryside! The home is lovely -- both inside and out. If fact, the listing photos do not really do it justice. This is a gorgeous old house, lovingly restored and decorated with obvious care and talent. It is also a very comfortable house. From the moment you enter the mud room (the most gorgeous mud room I've ever seen) till you sink into the sumptuous down-filled pillows on the family room sofa, you will feel totally pampered. The bathrooms and bedrooms include quality linens and towels, and the kitchen is well-equipped and spacious enough for several cooks. And the dining room... well, the dining room is simply breathtaking!
Homeowner Sheila took the time to greet us on our arrival and show us the entire house, answering all of our questions and providing tips about where to eat out and what to see. My husband and I loved hiking down the surrounding country roads and at nearby Bee Brook, and exploring beautiful Litchfield. We visited White Flower Farms, The Glebe, and the Bellamy-Ferriday House. We wandered the shore of Lake Waramaug at dusk -- a beautiful sight indeed. And we may have over-indulged on the ice cream at Arethusa Farm and Dairy. :)
If you love the comfort and beauty, antiques and the outdoors, gardens and historic architecture, this is definitely the place for you!"

"We spent a week here with our school-aged children (11, 10, 8) and had such a great time! The house was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed, including really handy tips on how to enjoy the home and the surrounding community. We took long bike rides on the Airline Trail, kayaked from Lollipop beach, had ice cream and lobster rolls at Harry's, and made smores at the firepit. Fun outings included the Mystic Aquarium and Seaport and a minor league baseball game (with fireworks!) in nearby Norwich. On our last day - July 4th - a parade of cars and kids on bicycles came through the lake community throwing candy at my thrilled kids. My 10 yr old exclaimed, "This may be the best vacation ever :-)" Thanks, John & Rita!!"

"We thoroughly enjoyed the accommodations, location and amenities in this Black Point House. The owner/agent was able to accommodate one of our guests who could not negotiate the stairs by converting the first level office into a bedroom, it was perfect. Loved the outdoor shower, ample parking at the house, plus nearby parking a few houses down the street, the open concept kitchen/breakfast area that seated 10. The only caveat, was the lawn was a bit long and should have been mowed prior to our stay. The gardeners finally showed up a day prior to our leaving."

"My family stayed here along with three other families (with lots of young children) for a long weekend. We had a blast. During the days we went apple picking nearby at Marsh Farm (hay rides, corn maze and pumpkin patch for the kids). We went hiking down country lanes, past lakes and through the woods which adjoin the property. Each night we cooked huge meals in the fully-equipt kitchen and ten of us ate in the impressive dining room. We did jigsaw puzzles in the huge living room and (attempted to) play the grand piano. My wife & I agreed that we would love to come back and do exactly the same weekend away next year (drivign 2 hr 15mins from our home in Brooklyn, NYC)."
